Fort Lauderdale no pumpout?

We are at the Lauderdale Marina where the pumpout has been broken for 2 months, the Hilton Marina advertises pumpout, but they have never had one either. Can it be possible that Nobody pumps in this town? I can get a truck to come by for a $55 hookup fee and 85 cents a gallon, $75 minimum. The marina management had no suggestions of where to go except offshore..........

What a messy situation, this stinks.
 
I can only think of one solution other than going off shore. Hmm.
 
Ft. Lauderdale is not an NDZ...the discharge of treated waste from a USCG certified Type I or II MSD is legal there...in fact everywhere in FL except Key West and Destin Harbor (see the EPA list of NDZs by state EPA NDZ list ).

So...the longterm solution: install a Raritan PuraSan (Type I MSD) Raritan PuraSan Promo Sheet and Raritan's Hold 'n' Treat controls Raritan HoldnTreat controls. Hold where you need to, empty the tank LEGALLY without the need to find a pumpout.

Call around, there are plenty of places that have pump outs. The city marinas such as Las Olas , Downtown, and Cooley's Landing both come to mind. Or heck, go take a boat ride on the ocean and enjoy SE Florida... little day cruise down to Haulover and then back up the ICW sightseeing for instance.
 
Some say entire South FL is kind of a sewer. So pump and dump or vice versa
 
We are on our way to No Name harbor to overnight on the way to Marathon and will be here for two nights. My black water system has a macerator pump for overboard discharge so we’ll just go out past the 3-mile limit on the way down. It still irks me that the place we are staying is still advertising that they provide pumpout service and that it’s been broken for months. The manager said it was “really hard” to keep it working: Boo Hoo Hoo, poor baby to have to work so hard.......
 
Plenty of pumpouts in Fort Lauderdale.

As to Lauderdale Marina, they've got far more customer service issues than Pump Outs. They charged a builder who buys 30,000 gallons a year from them for an hour of docking at $90. The reason for the delay was they refused to take the credit card for the fuel over the phone and the builder had to run it to them. Two days later that builder needed fuel and just called Peterson and bought 2500 gallons for a dollar less per gallon than they would have paid the Marina.
 
Have you considered rebuilding their pump for them, or having it rebuilt.
There used to be some pump out boats that would offload your "substance" for a fee.
Per fueling at the dock from a truck? This marina does not have refueling facilities. I refueled my Nordhavn from a truck once and when the marina office found out, they told me, never again. SMILE
There is also a fuel barge around Ft Lauderdale too. I am not sure but, you may have to call ahead so the fuel barge expect you. I cannot recall if the barge has pump out facilities.

Are you asking Old Dan? He owns his slip. Woodland Hills has moved on.

As to fueling by truck or by fuel barge, most locations have come around. Now some do charge you for doing so and I don't find that unreasonable if it's a small amount. That way they make that small amount on fuel without having to deal with it directly. Fuel trucks are also set up with deals with many marinas where they actually pay the marina a fee for their rights.

Correction: Dan owns 2 slips and one boat. One 55ft slip and one 75ft slip.
I am currently in the 75ft slip only because I am to lazy to move to the 55ft slip and I dread moving the contents of two dock boxes too.
One slip is available to rent or sale.... <innocent look>

Pump out in No-Name Harbour and it works. (I was there Saturday and Sunday).
Good Cuban food at the Boaters Grill and lousy holding in the lake, mostly mud.
 
I feel for OP. I have pulled into a few places in which they advertise certain amenities, say a hot tub or excellent WiFi. Once I find out that they no longer have it or it is broke, I start pulling lines and leave.

I refuse to spend my hard earned cash on false advertising designed to get you to visit their marina at a sometime over priced fee. I also post a negative response and contact the magazine or cruise guide to file a compliant.

I was asking the Woodland Hills, it wasn't apparent to me he had moved on permanently ,just taking a cruise down to No Name and Marathon for awhile; I gues this sentence through me off; "It still irks me that the place we are staying is still advertising..."

I never thought for a second to anchor our Hatteras 56MY inside the harbor and he's got another 7 feet. We anchored just outside the channel, maybe 200 yards south of NNH and took the Whaler into to eat at Boater's grill or visit friends on KB. Good holding though you might get waked a little, stayed there a few times , coming and going from the keys and the islands and always enjoyed it.
 
We are in Ft Lauderdale for one more night then on to No Name. As far as leaving the marina if the amenities are not as promised, where do we go given how hard it was to get this reservation? And if you arrive near winters early dusk?

Thanks for the info about the good holding south of NNH, we will probably be arriving along with the big cold front and it’s good to hear we can securely anchor.

We are now living aboard and have given up our permanent slip in JAX.

Did you sell your slip?
I hope not. The prices will greatly increase as the years go by and always nice to have a place to come home to.
You could have rented it out.

It was a rental.
 
My experience with Lauderdale Marina was so so at best. Gave me a slip with a broken power pedestal and said run the genny. I did so but they didn’t seem real concerned about pleasing their customers.
 
Pretty sure the whole FL Keys Sanctuary is an NDZ.
 
The Sanctuary is, but there seems to be some dispute about how large an area that is. It was originally a clearly defined area off Key West near the Dry Tortugas National Park that not only are an NDZ for toilet waste, but gray water, bilge water and anything else except engine cooling water. But for the past few years, people have been claiming that the entire FL Keys are NDZs. Not according to EPA unless the boundaries of the Sanctuary have been extended to take in the entirity of the Keys. EPA NDZ list

The EPA site states the whole sanctuary is an NDZ and is outlined on the NOAA chart starting in Key Largo.

I haven't fine toothed the CFRs, but while in the Keys, it is my understanding that the whole area is a NDZ, with areas if greater restrictions oin certain areas.

There is free pumpout boat coverage for pretty much the whole keys, so my guess with all that and Florida stating it in their Keys brochures that it is all a NDZ, it probably is one big NDZ.

They're more into other aspects of their business and just seem to take the dockage for granted.

True, but my nautical charts and the one below used in Fl publications shows that the only Keys not included are the uninhabited ones North of Key Largo in a national park.

The FKNMS pretty much encompasses all off the Keys from the border of Everglades National Pack to just outside the reef line.

Yep ..... I do my homework.

Also, just look at a NOAA raster chart... NDZ is stamped every 10 -20 miles throughout and says reference note Z (IIRC).
