TF Gathering in SE Florida 2019

The friendliest place on the web for anyone who enjoys boating.
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
Sorry for only remembering "slow hand" out of the list of first, last, and boat names that the marina gave me.
Shall I bring sackcloth and ashes in addition to the Flor de Cana and other good rums / scotch / bourbon?
Priscilla and I are both decent cooks. Is there anything that the gathering would like for breakfast or lunch? Chili? Biscuits and gravy? Or?
JohnS

Any 40 degree mornings like the one this past Wednesday morning and you might have a gathering for hot chili for breakfast.

Irv, we changed the dates to over a weekend to accommodate Baker and Wendy. He has been talking like he is coming, but I haven't seen him say positively. If he did I missed it. If I know anything about Baker he would seldom miss a party.

Speaking of schedules, how's your schedule looking, Capt. Jack?

Sorry Don, I will be at sea from Feb 6 to March 6, hate to miss this shindig!:banghead:

Oh no. That’s terrible news that Jack won’t be there, it just won’t be the same. Maybe Steve will show up, I think I like him better anyway, not as serious. I can’t remember which one drinks the most but at least I don’t need PBR or is it Bud. I can’t remember which one likes which beer. And who will share the porno BandB for the weekend. This may prove to be a logistics nightmare.

Irv, I think an explanation of Jack and Steve is needed. Steve is Jack's alter ego after the sun goes down, and he is in to the PBR.

While checking the stock market a few minutes ago, I noticed a drop in the stock price of PBR, no doubt related to an expected consumption reduction in the first quarter of next year. Sorry you won't be with us next February!

Actually PBR was up over the last few days after bottoming out over the concern of no one to manufacture it for them in a couple of years. Millercoors has agreed to continue to make it.

Don wrote “Irv, I think an explanation of Jack and Steve is needed. Steve is Jack's alter ego after the sun goes down, and he is in to the PBR.”

Don are you sure, I thought Jack was Steve’s alter ego, at least that’s what Baker told me one night when he was sober, of drunk, hard to tell the difference. Not sure I ever saw Baker sober even when flying.

Watfa says last year she fed 30 last year (that includes me twice). One suggestion, we should keep Lenna and Watfa seperated this year, they are trouble when together. Sippy cups again this year for those who spill wine and booze.

Did you say biscuits and gravy? Count this southern boy in!:thumb:

Don

What no peanut butter sandwich? Say it isn’t so. LOL

We stayed an extra day and threw caution to the wind as it related to being able to non-rev to get home. Here was how that extra day went...and it probably added about $1000 to the trip for that little boat ride.

<<Yesterday Wendy said, “Let’s stay another day...the weather is great...it will be fun!”....she said. I said but the flights don’t look so great tomorrow and the one tonight is wide open. She said let’s live dangerously and worry about that tomorrow... And let’s rent a boat. It will be fun she said...$$$$$...it was. Let’s go eat she said. It will be fun she said....$$$$$. We can go to the airport early she said so we can have back up flights she said. We are now at the airport and it is not very fun. We’ve missed many flights and the standby list gets rolled and gets longer and more senior as the day goes on. She said “we” will have to buy tickets. You are a rich captain she said...$$$$$. Many hundreds of dollars later to spend 24 more hours in So. Florida, 10 of which was at the FLL airport, we have seats on the last flight out...$$$$$. Oh...it is the one time I forgot my ID...so unable to ride the jumpseat...$$$$$

Ps...Wendy did not approve of this message!!!!...she said!!!.$$$$$

Pss...for our boat trip, Wendy said we need booze she said. So I googled the nearest liquor store. It wasn’t very near and it was OST(other side of the tracks). It was one of those liquor stores that was “open” but the doors were locked...you know what I’m saying...there was a doorbell...and they buzz you in...and a mean dog behind the counter. And then she said, “ I want grapefruit vodka”...she said. I said, “Do you really think a place like this has GRAPEFRUIT vodka????” I want grapefruit vodka!!!!....she said!!!! I said stay in the car and lock the doors. So I go in...the patrons and proprietor of this fine establishment we’re staring in disbelief of this white boy and his pretty white girl on this side of the tracks looking for some poofda flavored vodka!!! They had every flavor of vodka EXCEPT grapefruit. So I got mango!!! I get to the car and she said MANGO....why on earth MANGO she said. And I said why on earth GRAPEFRUIT??? It was a cute little baby bottle(pint) in a proper brown paper sack!!! We get to the boat rental joint and she has to buy an ice chest and ice and mixers for our cute little mango bottle....$$$$$.

Psss.... we had a great time!!!

Pssss....we are STILL in the FLL airport...eating lunch at Chili’s and maybe a maragarita or 7...$$$$$>>
Love it

Wendy is the best thing that happened to Baker and now he complains about spending a few dollars on the lady. I’ve had ex wives that I spent tons on and never complained, just the cost of life. Further Wendy is a favorite of ours, Baker not so much. :pirate:

Hey Irv,

Don't let this get out, Wendy said she would be there in February, with or without Baker.

Ted

Ted, that’s great, she can drink his portion and it will be enjoyable with his butt on a tarmac somewhere. It will be our secret. Thanks for the great news.

I can understand that completely, Don. Should be a welcome alternative to your own Bob Evans Sausage Gravy and Buscuit dispensers.

Larry, how did I know that would be coming?:D

Dammit man....I am just seeing this!!! Ironically, after another non-rev traveling adventure. We made it home without spending thousands!!!!

As is always the case, I have to bid my schedule to be able to make it. I will not know that schedule until mid January. I should be able to get that time off....although that won't be official until the official awarding of said schedule!!! So Irv, don't cancel the FDC order just yet!!!

David Marchand, I do hope you will be able to make it. Like everyone has said, it is a loose gathering of people that get together and eat and drink and have fun. You can participate in as little or as much as you want. In the end, you are putting faces to names to internet personalities and making them real. You might even gain lifelong friends out of it! So come on out!!!

John, did you mean "a loose gathering of people".... Or a " gathering of loose people" ...?????

My use of the phrase was intentional....;)

Does anyone know of a motel, room or condo for rent close by? Just won't be able to boat there, but would like to fly over for a few days.

We have stayed at the Dockside Inn and Resort and also Hutchison Island Inn. Both are very simlar and quite basic...a slight nod goes to Dockside since it is across the parking lot from a little Bar and Grill on the water..."On the Edge" I think is the name of the place. Both hotels are on the water and offer waterfront rooms.

OK, guys it's crunch time at the marina. Ann at the marina says she needs slip reservations by Monday, January 7th in order to guarantee slip space. February is one of the busiest months at Fort Pierce City Marina.

ATTENTION: Beware of cross currents in the approach channel to the marina. Also, there has been some shoaling, and the channel will be marked with very small floating markers which can be hard to see. Use caution, and watch your depth. The marina hopes to have the channel dredged and new larger markers in place before our gathering. However, that is not guaranteed.

Check in time is 11:00 am or after. The marina would like you to give them an approximate ETA. If travelling with a buddy boat, they would like you to come into the harbor one at a time with at least 5 minutes between boats.

Hope to see you in February.

Hi Don

Thanks for taking care of this herding of the cats and Larry too. My reservations are made and I was able to bribe the Dockmaster to move Ted’s Dock a few hundred yards away so now Scott can be with the rest of us. Watfa has her meals planned we just need an approximate count of those coming to dinner in February.

Looking forward to this great gathering of like minded people, a highlight of our boating year.

Sure wish I could make it this year but the stars haven't aligned in my favor so I'll have to hold out until next year.

I'll miss the gathering but will toast you from afar.

Cheers from Sunny California!

Al, I've been waiting to hear from you. It's really a bummer that you will not be there. Maybe you can send Meg.:D We all wish you the best, buddy.

Jack sent a message awhile back that he will be at sea. It won't be the same without you two guys.

What? Al and Steve won’t be there? We’ll at least the IPAs and PBRs are safe.

Lena has reminded me that the kick off happy hour will be on Hobo, Friday the 22nd. We have the apps, mixers, beer and wine covered, just show up. There are lots of dinner options later. The last few years, some of us walked to Tillman’s Barbacue. The foods good with outdoor seating and local beers on tap.

See y’all soon!

Wifey B: Come on guys. With all the excellent restaurants there, some great seafood, branch out a little. Barbecue is good but you can do so much better there. :)

Why don't you come to the gathering and point us in the right direction. I think most of us guys would be happy to follow your shapely lead.
