Our classifieds are free and anyone registered here is welcome to post an ad.
Be aware that there are unscrupulous folks out there. Avoid any interaction that seems odd to you or �feels� wrong. Inquiries from unknown buyers, buyers �agents� and other non-traditional approaches should be treated with extreme caution.
Beware of unsolicited contacts offering to put you in touch with someone else who is buying or selling via e-mail or text.
Do not post your e-mail address or phone number in a classifieds ad.
Hints that you may be dealing with a Scammer:
- Seller or Buyer approaches you via a direct email or PM and then steers you to an off-site communication method (text or email).
- No posts or very few forum posts.
- Recent forum membership
- Insists on conducting negotiations via email or text rather than PM
- Requires payment via Bank Transfer, BitCoin/CryptoCurrency, WesternUnion or other unsecured method.
- Buyer or Seller suggests Paypal "Friends and Family" payment. Paypal is a good way to arrange payment but an invoice for goods and services should be used rather than "Friends and Family". "Friends and Family" avoids fees BUT there is no recourse if the transaction runs aground. Friends and Family is for gifts only. There is no protection for Friends and Family transactions, so never ever use it to buy something.
- Declines to allow viewing the item before proceeding with the transaction.

Welcome aboard, and good luck in your search. The GB 42 is a beautiful and capable boat.
There are several well populated threads on the Forum that may help you.
Boat search 101, the Grand Banks section under makes, and individual threads about buying, using, or selling GB 42s. The Library icon is at the top of the main page.
When we were looking, we found that Yachtbroker.com had the nicer boats, at higher prices. Boats.com and boattrader.com had a wider range of prices, on boats which ranged from very nice to salvage / junk. Craigslist in major boating cities may also be a place to look.
You already know that Grand Banks changed their hulls from wood to fiberglass in 1974, for most models. Many of the cheaper boats are wood.
If you have sorted out how and where you will use her, you may be able to find a good boat that the PO has already added the bells and whistles you may want for your intended use.
It might also pay to look at other boats in that size and quality range, to see other arrangements of similar spaces. Good luck and good hunting.

What is your budget? what year is the GB42 will need to be ?
what is your boating experience and level of maintenance confidence or ability?
my dream boat would of been a GB but I settle for a Mainship as a poor relative maybe a younger brother?
I am very confident in maintenance of boats so choose boats that have a solid hull and engine but can do with replacing say electrics and small bits around the boat>?

We purchased a GB 36 this year through Annie Gray...Gray and Gray Yacht brokerage in Maine. She was the selling broker but was absolutely great to deal with from my point of view. Honest, straight forward, and patient. First class! Has a good handle on a lot of Northern boats. Get to know her and she will find you the right boat. Highly recommended!

No. This boat had many re fits but original engine.....3000 hrs. Very happy with it.
