14 to share similar experiences of changing light bulbs and how the light bulb could have been changed differently

7 to caution about the dangers of changing light bulbs

27 to point out spelling/grammar errors in posts about changing light bulbs

53 to flame the spell checkers

41 to correct spelling/grammar flames

6 to argue over whether it's "lightbulb" or "light bulb"

... another 6 to condemn those 6 as anal-retentive

2 industry professionals to inform the group that the proper term is "lamp"

15 know-it-alls who claim *they* were in the industry, and that "light bulb" is perfectly correct

156 to email the participant's ISPs complaining that they are in violation of their "acceptable use policy"

109 to post that this forum is not about light bulbs and to please take this discussion to a lightbulb forum

111 to defend the posting to this forum saying that we all use light bulbs and therefore the posts *are* relevant to this forum

306 to debate which method of changing light bulbs is superior, where to buy the best light bulbs, what brand of light bulbs work best for this technique and what brands are faulty

27 to post URL's where one can see examples of different light bulbs

14 to post that the URL's were posted incorrectly and then post the corrected URL's

3 to post about links they found from the URL's that are relevant to this group which makes light bulbs relevant to this group

33 to link all posts to date, quote them in their entirety including all headers and signatures, and add "Me too"

12 to post to the group that they will no longer post because they cannot handle the light bulb controversy

19 to quote the "Me too's" to say "Me three"

4 to suggest that posters request the light bulb FAQ

44 to ask what is a "FAQ"

4 to say "didn't we go through this already a short time ago?"

143 to say "do a Google search on light bulbs before posting questions about light bulbs"

1 new forum member to respond to the original post 6 months from now and start it all over again.

Now that's funny, I don't care who you are!

Have a great evening John!

Do LED's count as light bulbs? If not, we need a new forum for LED's.

Thanks Jim....you too!!!

John---

Have you been hanging around the T&T list again?????

What about the light bulb salesman who gets banned for life from the forum because he made a commercial post to the classified section?

I got banned for life from T&T because, after a couple of martinis, I accidently sent my boat for sale info to the general list instead of to BST. Some woman named Georgie, or close to that, got her panties in a real wad and sent me several emails in all CAPS.

Sounds like Georgs (the guy who owns the list) maybe had a few martinis as well!

Actually, Marin, you busted me!!! I am trying to keep up with what is going on over there just so I can "show my face" with my signature that directs people over here. It is probably only a matter of time before someone says something. Our dilemma is actually the trawler demographic.....older folks resistant to change. Add to it the fact that they are generally not very computer savvy and you have the reason people are stuck over there on an email list when there is a much better medium right here....but we are slowly and surely growing without any real promotion. And I hang out on different forums(cars, airplanes, surfing, etc.) and this is one of the best formats I have seen. Anyway, blah blah blah. Thanks for participating and hope y'all are enjoying it.

And Doc, that type of behavior was the main reason we created this forum! Marin and I get scolded all the time over there for talking about airplanes...

John---

One thing you might try is to answer someone's question on the T&T list--- how to rig an anchor or change a filter or refinish a caprail or whatever--- with some information but also refer them to a post or thread on this forum, and include the instructions on how to access the forum.

I've done this on occasion and referred someone to information in the archives of the Grand Banks owners forum, not to drum up more participants for the forum because most GB owners already know about it, but to direct someone regardless of what kind of boat they have to a lot of good information on the topic they're interested in. So far I've never been reprimanded by the T&T folks for referring people to the GB forum. Of course, I have no idea if anyone has followed through and gone to the GB forum for the information.

Obviously there needs to be a valid discussion on this forum about to the topic in question for the person from T&T to read, but it's one way to help get the word out that the forum is here.

"Older folks"???? Why you young whippersnapper, I need to hobble over to your marina and give you what-for... what was I talking about?

Just found this thread, LMAO, same stuff, just a few years later

It really depends on how you plan to use the light bulb after it has been changed.

It can't be done the members would get into a prolonged heated polarized debate on the best way to do it which would eventually end up dealing with anchors and chain prejudices.
