Hi All, I have a Mainship 43-3 SR and I am taking out the lower helm seat that sits on top of the chest freezer. It would make sense that I should cover the existing top of the chest freezer with the same Corian that is in the rest of the galley, but I cannot find a 2'x 4' remnant or any size for that matter.

1) Anyone have any idea of the exact pattern/color of Corian? Its in the brown/beige/speckled family. It's 1/4" thick.

2) Any ides of where to buy it?

3) Any alternative ideas that will not look too different? I'm thinking I want either Corian or another solid surface, or laminate and not a wood top.

Thanks in advance!

Try any local kitchen counter builders. Many granite shops also do Corian counters. I have purchased pieces noth small and larger fir DIY projects around the house.

Probably not a 1/4” thick..more like 1/2”...Go to Corian website, they will have color chart...There are many solid surface manufacturers even other brands will have colors and patterns that should be close enough...My local shop is Mica World...any Formica Laminate shop will have scraps to choose from. Half sheets can be ordered as well from several suppliers..

Try solidsurface.com. They sell Corian and many other brands.

So-called granite is not necessarily granite. Condo neighbors have workers making a kitchen counter outside my home. They said it was granite, but it was pure white 3/4 inches thick and at least ten feet long. I'm unaware that granite that size and thick is possible. Imitation is most likely.

Thank you all. It's been double checked and it is 1/4"-- many boats and RV's use 1/4 and the shipwright doing the work confirmed it. I have tried solid surface dot com and they have something that might be close but they wont confirm the color with me so I need to buy a sample chip from Corian and then decide.

I'll try some local shops too.

Thanks again!
