40 ft mainship engine ventilator

I'm looking for a engine ventilator for a 2007 mainship trawler. Its located at the aft starboard side.I'm not at the boat now but it's approximately 17in hight and 12 in long, thats just a guess on my part. It has about 10 vertical louvers.For medical reasons I can't get to my boat now. Tom

The MS 34T BOM is available there in the Maint & Parts tab.
The 34T vent is part / photo # 1008814.
If you open the 34T Part Photos ans scroll down to that photo # you will see a photo and the supplier info.
I know they are available as Bella Donna recently purchased one for their 34.
Not sure if the 40 is the same.
I don't have the 40 BOM but the 3rd parts button has photos for several sizes and models of MS Luhrs and Hunter boats.
It is not searchable but you might start by looking around the above photo # as I have seen similar parts grouped near each other.
The other approach if you can confirm your size would be to contact the supplier of the 34T vent and see if they have one for the size you need.

All of the above best if accessed from a PC. I would include a copy of the photo here and do some searching myself but only have phone access this wkend.

I have the same issue on my 2005 400. That appears to be the correct vent. When I emailed premium marine with that part number I never got a response back from them.

Please let me know if you find a way to purchase a replacement.

You might try a PM to BellaDonna. I know they were able to purchase one not long ago.

If anyone finds a replacement to that Leuvered Vent, let me know also. It appears to perform two functions, venting the engine room and venting the heat from the Fridge and Freezer. I recently returned from a 65 mile run, with the wind from the starboard, and took a considerable amount of water over the gunwal and through that vent into the ER. Would like to find a solution, possibly a different leuver configuration?

I'm expecting an email back from premium marine, Dick Bramer, dbramer@premiummarine.com. He said they used to manufacture it and can still make a new one but he is not sure where to get the louver material. He is looking into it.

I didn't tell him this, but mine really just needs new louvers, the frame is fine.

Please send Dick an email and let him know you are interested. If they get inquiries from more than one person it might prompt them to make a few.

Yeah, I've been in touch with Premium Marine as well. They can also refurbish your old vent with new louvers. I'm going to go that route as the frame on mine is perfect, it's just the louvers that are rotted out.

I'm sure others will be interested - seems like this is a common replacement request.

Any info on rebuild $ vs full replacement $ would be welcomed.

Actually, Premium Marine just got back to me and said that they can't rebuild my old one, but they are manufacturing a new one using acrylic louvers which are UV stable. I haven't gotten an exact cost yet, but they think it will be around $450.

I just got the diagram from premium marine this is the grill they believe is for the 30 ft Mainship trawler but I don't think it's for the 40 ft.Does anyone know if they are the same.The measurement seems a little off/Users/thomassiriani/Desktop/1801310.pdf

If you are on the TF website use the Advanced Reply and scroll down to "Manage Attachments"

Choose the File - Then press "Upload"

That will attach the file for others to view.

I am guessing most of the late model yr MS's use the same vent as the parts photos only show one.

Tom, I have been in touch with Premium Marine, and the size he initially sent to me was 16 3/4" X 16 13/16" and showed the leuvers running horizontally. My my 2007 Mainship 400, the leuvers run vertically, and the measurements are 18 15/16" vertical
and 19 3/16 wide. The slats run vertically. He was unaware of the different size for the Mainship 400's and that the slats ran vertically, not horizontally. Also, I mentioned to him that last season I took a wave on the starboard side, over the bunwal and water went through the vent assembly into the engine room. I suggested some solutions to prevent that and he seemed interested. One is a fireproof piece of sound deadening that will stop or at least slow down the water so it can run down and out the bottom, not penetrate entirely through the vent.

Guessing. I suspect your vents do not have any baffles or ineffective baffles? Need those baffles to prevent direct access to the ER. I think my 34AT ER vents are configured the same way.
Did your ER bilge pumps cycle at all?
There is an advantage for having two bilge pumps, one discharging to the port and one discharging to the stbd.
They call that "maximum recoverable roll." SMIRK Complicate that by a "maximum sustainable roll." A quick roll is more likely to recover than a sustained roll. GUESSING

Captain Ron I have a 2007 Mainship trawler I'm at home now but I think my vertical louvers are 17 in high by 16 1/2 wide I might be off on that I'll check when I go back to the boat.I'm giving the louver frame that screws into the boat frame.Tom

Vertical frame

On my 40 ft Mainship trawler the frame is 17 in by 17 in it looks like 4 screws hold it to the box. Has anyone ever taken the frame out? I would like to sent the frame to premium and see if they could make just the frame. Tom.

Looks a almost perfect installation for the ER vents. It is well protect and located above the deck. It is far better than most installation for blue water boats.

Are those the original vents my boat is a2007 and the vents are chipping away. Tom

It looks like their replacrment might have flat vs curved slats but they are available

You could have the air inlets fabricated out of stainless steel if you cannot find the plastic ones.
No idea how much it would cost.
If you were in the Ft Lauderdale area of FL, I know of a fabricator.
