Cruising Guides

Does anyone have recommendations on cruising guides (similar to Charlie's Charts or that style) for the run from San Diego down through the Panama Canal and then up to Virginia?* I know it's going to be several books but I'm looking for recommendations for titles that you have used and consider useful.

Inside the US on the ICW , Skipper Bob , and a set of Gov charts will work fine.

The standard cruising guides will only be needed if you have no anchor and need to locate every dock and food grease pit , and hot tub .
