I have been looking for a while at the trawler forum, lots of useful information. We don't have a trawler but a homebuilt Bluejacket 25.5 and are just beginning to cruise around in it locally to the Chesapeake area.

Welcome aboard. Cast off the lines and enjoy your boat, and tell us about your cruising.
Cheers

Greetings,
Welcome aboard. If that boat in your avatar is your Blackjacket, why are you looking for a trawler. She looks purdee sweet. As Mr. CC stated, enjoy your boat.

That is our boat in the avatar.
I'm not looking for another boat, I have too much time invested in building this one. Four years and still doing some small modifications.

Welcome, ejds. Nice looking boat. I'd love to see some more pics.
Whose plans did you use?

It looks as much like a trawler as most of us have.

Building your own boat gives you the right to call it whatever you want!

Nice looking boat! Where are you based on the bay?

Welcome to the Trawler forum

Looks great sahre some more pics if you get a chance

Thanks all,

We are in the Northern Neck pf Virginia right where the Potomac runs into the Bay. The boat is a Bluejacket 25.5 as per plans from Tom Lathrop. One of the reasons to build a boat was the need for a shallow draft boat and is was fun except for all the sanding. The entrance to our creek from the Potomac is very shallow.

At this link are the building pictures. https://www.flickr.com/photos/ejds33/

Great looking boat and amazing work

Wow, what a great looking boat! I am so envious of that level of craftsmanship.

Well done!!

Welcome to TF. That is a very nice looking boat. I'm not familiar with it and, like the others, would love to see more photos.

Greetings,
Mr. e. Apologies for misunderstanding. Again, welcome aboard. Yup, she's still purdee sweet...

Very cool boat! How do you like your Nature’s Head?

We do like the Nature Head very much. We only used it in March last year for a week. Back problems prevented further use of the boat that year. I left the solids in the bin until fall and there was no smell at all. The urine bottle does fill up. It is however easy to empty in any toilet. I dedicated a shopping bag to conceal the bottle.

Cool. I’m getting ready to install one on my boat next week. Any pointers are appreciated.

DB said it well!! What a level of perfection.:thumb::smitten: Wiring I can only dream about. Were I to provide a picture of my ball of wiring stuffed into a shoe box I'd be drummed out of the forum!! Welcome, I believe you will teach us many things on home construction boat building.

Folks his boat is an 11 out of 1-10 in workmanship. Like one said his wiring job leaves most folks in awe . The hours and attention to detail is as good as it gets. Tell us more about how your dinghy project is coming.

Welcome

Looks like a great boat, Enjoy the good life

Thanks everybody for the compliments.
Long time ago in a different country my first real job was electrical work on a shipyard. They were building a series of navy frigates. The importance was quality not speed. Something I liked.

The dinghy is a modified version of Dave Gentry's Piankatank River Pram. It is a skin on frame design that is modified to make it nesting. It was supposed to be finished more than a year ago but back problems and other projects prevented that.
I just started working on it again.
