You my have decent weather, but at that time of year, fronts come through regularly and can blow hard for several days straight. Most people wait until spring after the winter northers die down.

A member here was stuck for way over a week in the anchorage, making a jump from the Tortugas to Mexico (Carribeanlife) at that time of the year. Remember that you must bring all provisions, nothing can be bought at the fort ( I think you can still buy a bag of ice from the daily float planes coming from KW and small bottle water at the fort). It is also a no discharge zone along with no fishing permitted in park areas. That said it is still a great adventure with nature at its best. Love to go back soon.

That was me, stuck for 2 weeks in January (wife required Christmas in KW as part of cruising negotiations) The water is too cold for swimming that time of year, so really only the fort to see. Neat but 2-3 days more than enough time. I would try for a warmer more settled time of year. That harbor is pretty nasty when it is blowing 30!
