Long time lurker here, still stuck in middle America in the planning stages for the Trawler lifestyle. Really enjoy your expertise and shared information.

I’ve got a lighthearted request - my wife and I will be flying into Orlando and driving down to Stuart for Trawlerfest next week, and we’re looking for some good boat songs to get us in the mood.

What are your favorite boating songs?

Some I’ve already got loaded (I’ve got eclectic taste)

Boat Drinks - Buffett
(Just about any song by Jimmy Buffett)
Five o’clock Somewhere - A. Jackson
Buy Me a Boat - C. Janson
Sailing - C. Cross
Sail - Awolnation
If I Had a Boat - Lovett
Shark Fighter - Aquabats
The Girl from Ipanema - Gilberto/Getz

What are we missing out on?

Sloop John B—Beach Boys
Cool Change—Little River Band
Southern Cross—CS&N

Of course
And a rude word warning

Boating Songs

Oldies: Jamaica Farewell By Harry Belafonte & for the Loopers: The Erie Canal By the Weavers, Find on YouTube.

Check out this one. I copied and pasted but it doesn't seem to work.
Help ! I'm hoping some of you techno guys can get it to work as its great.

Jukebox Time Machine
Just set it on any date and let it stay there and it will just keep on playing different songs of that era.

This is neat. It's sort of a "Jukebox Time Machine" of music. Each of the years below connects to the best 20 hits of that year via a Jukebox. Click on a year, wait a few seconds, and a Jukebox will appear showing you 20 hits from that year to select from. You can play all 20 hits, or. click on just those that you like. Enjoy the ride!

And for something just a bit different....

Hi

I was thinking about this music theme and I remembered the Finnish old (1953) tango song where the words had a lot of Trawler spirit. Here you can learn the Finnish language:) It's difficult to translate, because there is no poetic translation of all the words in the UK.

Satumaa
The Fabulous Land

Jossakin aavan meren tuolla puolen on maa
Somewhere over the high seas there is a land
missä laine liplattaa onnen kaukorantaan
where a vawe laps to the distant shore of Happy Isles
missä kauneimmat kukat luovat aina loistettaan
where the most beatiful of flowers always bring in their shine
huomisen huolet saavat jäädä siellä unholaan
there the worries of tomorrow may be left forgotten
Oi jospa voisi kerran käydä sinne satumaahan
Oh if one only could get to that fabulous land
niin en koskaan lähtisi sieltä linnun lailla pois
then I would never leave it like a bird
vaan siivettömänä en voi lentää
but without wings I cannot fly
olen maan vanki
I am a prisoner of the earth
vain ajatuksin, jotka entävät kauas
only by my thoughts, reaching far
saan käydä sinne
I can get there
Lennä, laulu, sinne missä satumaa siintää
Fly, my song, there where the fabulous land is gleaming
sinne missä oma armaani odottaa minua
there where my dearest is waiting for me
lennä, laulu, sinne liitävän linnun lailla
fly, my song, there like a gliding bird
kerro, että ajatuksissani on vain yksin hän
tell that in my thoughts there is only him

And video

I carry sirius/xm sat radio on the boat. Works even way offshore and in Bahamas. Lots of music variety and can get news and live sports too. Feeds a car stereo in pilot house and speakers in cockpit. Thing is always on when traveling.

Anything from the Victory at Sea soundtrack, but especially "Beneath the Southern Cross", a piece so good R. & H. re-used it in Annie Get Your Gun.

Maybe mix in a little Steel Drum Island music just for ambiance.

Anything by Creedence Clearwater Revival.

In fact you guys have inspired me; just borrowed three discs from my public library burning to my boat computer as I write. Got me some Taj Mahal, too
