Grand Banks Specialized surveyor

Hi all,
AM looking for s surveyor who happens to be a "specialist" with Grand Banks and Ford-Leyman engines. I have an accepted offer on a GB 42 Classic in Maine and am looking for a top notch individual. Any recommendations?

Any good surveyor could do the hull. Look for a good mechanic for the engine survey.

You almost certainly need 2 people.

The Ford Lehman is your basic simple normally aspirated diesel,unless you have the turbo version and not the common 120 or 135hp versions,which any decent mechanic could do.
Among known issues,coolant passage silting around no.6, raw water pumps with drive tang which can break without warning,(updated version available). Check if the coolant overflow tank has been updated and an overflow bottle fitted(ADC kit available)
Maybe American Diesel Corp,successors to Lehman,would know who in Maine buys lots of Lehman parts.
Of course, you could ask the broker for suggestions, but...

Did the same search when I bought our boat last year. One size doesn't fit all is what I found. Used two people, both "experts" in their own area and was glad I did. Two separate processes, engine and hull. The people I found were strong on one and could get around on the other but not to the expert level I was looking for. My newb advice, use two people.
