After finally finishing the Fly Bridge remodel, Took some time to take the old girls out and achored up behind the reef. Found a few Conch and speared a few fish. A coulple beautiful evenings and nice warm days. BB

Conch fritters and fish tacos. Sounds pretty good to me.

Whatever*became of that pile of ballast you found (hope it wasn't a secret)?* KJ*

Tough life, but somebody's got to do it! :)
 
KJ, I am still working that ballast pile,these conch came from that spot. I have found iron spikes,pottery and one Spanish coin so far.BB
 
Conch. Are those plentiful and is there a limit. Looks like you have a boat load.

Never tried one but I've never been south of the 49th parallel.

I take that back I did go to Hawaii once when I was young and foolish.

How long does it take for them to get as big as the ones pictured?

We have a fish commonley called *red snappers or yellow eye.**A big one is as old a 80 or 90 years

The big one are about three years old .They put a minumum size on them and a season so they would not be takken while laying eggs. Its working to some degree. However this is a poor country and if you need to feed your family ,you will take them. The fishermen are seeing the come back of the lobster and conch and it is helping. They have a minimum size now on Grouper,but I see 1 lb fish in the boats everyday. BB
