    For Sale ads MUST include:
    • Asking price

    • A Basic Description
    • Clear statement whether you are the owner or non-owner (posting for friend, relative, or acquaintance)
    • Don't forget to select: FOR SALE, WANTED or FREE in the Title block.
    All ads should also include ALL the following:
    • Pertinent maintenance and condition information
    • Exterior picture or pictures
    • Interior picture or pictures (boats)
    For maximum impact & exposure, it is suggested the Ad Title include: Year, Manufacturer, Model, Length, Price, and Location or at the very top of the ad body. When your item has sold or the ad is no longer relevant: Please post a Reply to the ad that the item is SOLD or click "Report Post" on post 1 of the thread to ask a moderator to archive the ad.     Hints that you may be dealing with a Scammer:

    • Requires payment via Bank Transfer, BitCoin/CryptoCurrency, WesternUnion or other unsecured method.
    • Buyer or Seller suggests Paypal "Friends and Family" payment. Paypal is a good way to arrange payment but an invoice for goods and services should be used rather than "Friends and Family". "Friends and Family" avoids fees BUT there is no recourse if the transaction runs aground. Friends and Family is for gifts only. There is no protection for Friends and Family transactions, so never ever use it to buy something.
    • Declines to allow viewing the item before proceeding with the transaction.

My dock neighbor has removed the mast and boom from his 32' and has asked me to send them to a new home. Includes the bronze mast hinge, boom bracket and mast mounting foot. Please send me your offer and I will pass it on to him. The items are in Bellingham, WA.

He installed a hardtop over his cockpit and had a fancy aluminum on custom made for his needs. No looking back now.
 
It would be interesting to see how the roll characteristics change without the mast and boom, unless the new one is of similar weight and moment arm.

I've heard if you take down the mast, it rocks faster and easier...

I have never heard that. Which is not to say that it is not true, of course. But doesn't really seem logical that removing the toothpick would make it roll more. Seems as if it would roll less. I could well be wrong though. We have a lot of experts on the forum, so perhaps someone will explain the physics to me. :)
 
it's called angular momentum, i think.

the distance from the center makes it slow down the frequency of rocking, even though the mass of the mast isn't large, it's length is and rocking from one side to another means having to stop the sideways motion of the mast and reverse it in the opposite direction.
 
Is that why we rock more than some others?

What I heard, is the mast is useful in when the sea is coming at the boat from the stern. The wind leans the boat over with the sail, and tends to hold it there keeping it from rolling with the waves.

Probably either a stern anchor, or else anchored both front and back. I've always liked to swing with the the wind and tide, but different strokes for different folks. :)
