Hi
Does anybody have any good ideas on capping or modernizing this large teak rub rail, looking for an affordable solution , maybe just capping the outside of it with some stainless about 2.25” tall, any ideas would really be appreciated
Regards
Matt

Rub Rail Idea

Island Packet Yachts in Largo FL developed and had manufactured a strong plastic rub rail. I rebuilt one of their boats and replaced the banged up teak one with the plastic one . Very cool.

We chose commercial rubber grade HD rub rail for our boat to run the loop.

Yes its expensive at $9-10 per foot , and 100ft has to be truck delivered , but with perhaps 100 locks with cement walls , it made sense.

If you can find out what the blue rub rail is on Albin 25’s I recomend that.

Have been a member of the Albineers of BC .. seen about 50 A25’s overthe years and never seen a blue rub rail gone south. Good stuff.

I use Stainless steel flat bar. 1/8 x 2. Holes 12" apart, counter sunk. 185' on the top rail -both sides and stern. Bottom rail near water 40' per side. Lots of holes to drill. Can be bought pre-drilled from Taco in 1/4 round, but expensive.

Hamilton Marine has a good selection of rub rail material. No connection to them.
