About 12 years ago at Orange Beach, AL.* It may be a good thing that he hit the dunes.* Just to the right of the picture is a rock jetty.* It is a 53' Hatteras.

See, if he had a single screw and a bow thruster, this never would have happened.

Perhaps*the helmsman/navigator got distracted while reading OTDE.*** KJ

Wow, what a story. You hear about ships being hit by a "freak wave", this one must have been a doozy.* Did they eventually tow it off the beach, or is it still there?* The last posting was April 2008.
 
They never got her off the beach. She was cut up for scrap. You can see the process in a series of pictures at this site.*Scroll to the bottom of the page.

That is an amazing read. Just goes to show you that our best confidence is so easily quashed by a momentary mood of the Earth.
