The southern route is likely more interesting than straight across, though its still not a lot to look at. There was a fair number of gators when we went; both in the water as well as sunbathing on the banks periodically. So keep your eyes peeled and you might get a good photo op of a gator
Used to be a whole scad of gators right there as you approached the Moore Haven lock. Been awhile since we've been by there.
