Galley Sink Slow Drain Solution - My Experience

Our galley sink is plumbed to the aft head drain to a through hole. For months I had tried to solve the problem. I had thought it was accumulated hair and gunk from the head sink. I remove the lift up stopper to clean it out but there was nothing there causing the backup. Next I considered a wire snake but the configuration of the piping was such that it couldn't be done. I was then faced with cutting open the PVC piping to snake out the lines, something I was loathe to do.

Then, a brainstorm to the extent I have the capacity for such. I remembered that I had a full container of Barnacle Buster in storage. I took a chance that years, maybe decades, of use had built up a mineral deposit. I poured a few ounces down the drain and waited a couple of hours. When I came back the drain was free-flowing.

Have not use BB on sink drains, but it worked well on my engines, dropped the temps 5 degrees on one and 10 degrees on the other. Good idea.
