Great idea.

Even if nobody notices the alarm sounding right away, knowing Charlie fell off the back of the boat at 1:36am at these precise coordinates is a lot better than "sometime last night, on this approximate course."

I would love to belive that it may save someones life someday, hopefully lots of people....

But my USCG experience has shown me that unless the vessel that the person fell off of relocates the person in about the first ten minutes, then the chances of recovery are slim to none. Granted, most of the times the people were not wearing PFDs.

It still is way less than 100 percent if they were wearing PFDs. The real advanyage is that position....that may be key to a higher sucdess rate, maybe not.
