Sunday and Monday I ran 5 hours each day in dry weather. Tuesday we sat still. No soot.

I ran 5 hours today going to the hurricane hole in Palmetto, FL. Mostly in a heavy rain. Did not lug the engine or attempt to go any faster than 8.5 kts at 1600 rpms.

When we docked I noticed a moderate coating of soot on the transom. This normally happens only when I cruise faster because even tho this boat has a 550 hp Cummins it is not really meant to go 18 kts, which it will do.

Would the exhaust swirling around behind this sedan boat be more prone to soot up the transom in a wet environment such as a heavy rain?
