The Fleming was high on my list of boats when I was looking. Here is a great video of the construction of hull #1 narrated by Tony Fleming. It's all taken from still photos but well worth watching. It's no wonder our little toys cost so much!

Even with a great NA and a qualified yard the #1 of anything is a beta test.

#20 will usually have fewer hassles.

But if you wait for #40 it might be even better.
Of course the price will be 25% higher.

Production has a learning curve boat #40 should be way cheaper than #1

But even if it isn't cheaper ,boat 40 may be 200% better from knowledge of the mistakes on boats 1-39.
 
Depending on the builder it could also at times be argued #1 was way overbuilt and by #40 they may have learnt to cut all the corners they can get away with!

I wonder what the ratio of 1-off specials is to production boats

Great videos

Watched this particular video about building Hull #1, and most of the many other Fleming videos. Agree that they are all well worth watching. Scenery very good, video quality and editing also very well done.
