I am in the process of changing out a Trace 1.5 inverter and installing a Trace 2.5 . The problem is that if I hook up the ground wire*to the boat's bonding system and turn it on the shore power supply breaker pops. If I leave the ground wire off all works well. Adding the ground after it is running has no effect on it and it runs well.* Any ideas?

DA Book should show a circuit with a simple relay that hooks the ground to the inverter , when shore power is gone.

The AC system is grounded at the "source".

Power pole , noisemaker or inverter , choose ONE! at a time

Your post really needs a better explanation. Are you connecting the DC ground to the bonding system? Is this a new or used inverter? How do you connect to the boats shore power? Without a lot of detail on the installation it is impossible to answer your question. Chuck

inverter use

how does it work? do you need to run main engine to charge batteries? how long can you stay on hook without generator?

Plus, need to know how inverter handles the neutral line.
