Permission to come on board

Greetings Gentlemen:

I am now joining this Forum to learn from your experience.

I am building a wood/epoxy 46' Trawler in Brazil, where I live. The boat construction has been stalled for 18 months due to financial challenges. Yet, next month I will be re-starting the*project.*The engine is a Deutz 145 Hp @ 2500 rpm to push my 25 ton toy.

Welcome aboard. I have some questions of you. How far along along is your project? Can you post a few pictures? I built a few boats, a 35 sailboat and a 36 trawler, from a fiberglass hull and deck so know what you are going though. Good luck.

The boat started officially on 8/1/2008. The rigging up of frames and hull went rapidly. Yet, since we had the hull ready to turn up side up, the boat project has been stalled up due to financial constrains. I have just insert a picture on my avatar and I would, off course, put some more if I knew how. I am still learning my way around this forum. But soon theyll be here. The boat construction resumed on 6/1/2011, This time, I hope, there will be no more delays.

As you can see the hull is multichine as the original design was to be built in steel. I also wanted in steel but I realized that I had more sources of knowledge in Wood/epoxy around me. The hull #1 is already floating and cruising, but it is 4' shorter and has a different profile above the waterline. The reason why I made it 4' longer was due to the beam. This boat has a 16.90' beam. At the original 42' LOA, it was too square for my taste. After arguing with the designer we extended 10% more on the waterline.
There's only one concern about hull #1. It sits 4" above designed waterline with 1/2 tanks and 3300 lbs lead ballast. I will need much more weight as the boat has an A/B of 2.62 when sitting in the planned waterline. But these are things to resolve as fine tuning, later down the road!
