So how about a shot of your own Ships wheel. Here's mine

I really think the "Destroyer" style wheel is most handsome. More user friendly too.

Dealers Choice.

Both are nice. I like. The combination of wood, stainless And Brass.

*Very Cool,*

That brass could use a little polish. Looking a bit green.

Love that thread! Now I can't wait to finish refurbishing mine and show it off!

**** Mine's similar to Eric's and Mark's, but it comes with a retro autopilot belt/servo.* Looks a bit funky, but it works.* It holds heading pretty well and does even better in altitude hold.*

**** Last night I suggested the boat needs a nice leather wrap for the lower helm wheel.* http://www.boatleather.com/* Let's just say it was not warmly received by the Budget and Finance Director (BFD)!!*

Here's ours. Powersteering is strong so it's a small wheel. But on the one occasion, when the belt running the steering pump let go, I would have liked a bigger wheel!

*- Admirals toes, not mine!

If I was the judge, I'd award the Blue Ribbon to SkipperDude. Very handsome and salty.

*I think we should start a boat admiration society. After looking at all these Helms.

*I have Helm envy.

Walt, your's is sweet clean and polished Love it.

Yeah guys standard side for Aussie built boats.
But as so many boats are imported and initially built for the US market stbd side steer is probably more the norm.
Port side steering so that when passing on comming vessel with normal protocol red to red easy to give a wave.

Tied the turks head myself and it is looking a bit tired (16 years old) may have to do a new one soon once the back log of current jobs has been cleared

It's not that unusual my boat is port side helm.

maybe it is unusual. I am.

*Back log? On the short list are you?

*Looks good to me, too, but they mounted it on the wrong side for your side of the ocean!!* ;-)

What I don't understand is how can you possibly run the helm without all that clutter of charts, coffee cups/drink cans, binocs, sunscreen bottles, hats, and half-eaten sandwiches?* You must have tidied up for the picture.

Well, we have owned this boat 5 years now, and have never helmed from the lower station, but you should see the rubbish on the flybridge.

Full of discarded prawns and lobsters, bottles of the finest Oz wines and champagne, half drunk. Girls so lovely you won't believe your eyes, who apply the sunscreen. Balmy weather with a zephyr of a breeze to cool you down..........................and*you call that the wrong*side of the ocean?.

Here is ours.* Taken when we rechristened the boat.
