12 volt fan

I got a 12 volt fan for a boat project where I need to use it as an exhaust fan. Since it was 12 volt I expected it to have two wires. Stupid me. It came with a 4 wire plug. Any idea which wires to use? Can I just cut off the plug and strip two wires? Which two? I am going to try and attach a picture of the plug and fan so you know what I am asking.

It looks like a 4 wire PC fan used on motherboards. Which have a standard pattern, so look it up. Some of these fans can vary their rpm and have speed sensing.

Yes it is a pc fan. I guess I can google the pin outs.

Just went through the same when wiring an exhaust fan for my refrigerator enclosure to the 12v fridges. Quite simple. Cut off the connector. Strip all four wires. Using a powered positive and a negative, touch combinations of pairs until you get the fan to run. The computer fans I got were polarity sensitive so each pair that is tested may require being tested twice reversing the positive with the negative.

Maybe one of these will match. All you have to connect is GND and +12v.
