We are doing the loop and will soon reach the point where the Illinois meets the Mississippi River. Any good diesel mechanics in this area? Our engines are VM Motori inline sixes, model HR692i9.

There are several marine shops in the St Charles area along the Mississippi. Easy enough to locate and call after on line sleuthing. Not sure about your motors though.

I doubt that you will find anyone in the US with experience with those engines. In recent years Mercruiser has taken over their partnership with Cummins to offer these VM Motori marine diesels, but I doubt that many Mercruiser dealers know much about these engine. So look for a smart diesel mechanic who can apply his generic knowledge to your problem.
