Reviewing the Yanmar Service manual (Compl Manual in Library section - referenced pages attached)
for a 6LYA-STP in prep for checking / adjusting valves and find 2 different specs noted for exhaust valves.

Pg 10-25 states Valve Clearance 0.1mm intake - 0.4mm exhaust

Pg 10-31-2 and 2-11 states 0.1mm intake - 0.5mm exhaust

Can any of the Yanmar gurus out there shed any light?

Valve Spec Solved

I'll post the answer here just in case others run into this as the Service Manual I referenced is in the TF Library section.

After other responses on BoatDiesel and some digging I think I've figured out what's going on...

The response got me wondering why the difference in the pg headings (Pg 10-25 only lists 6LY2-STE)...all others list all 3 Yanmar engine model #'s

I went back to the full manual and checked the rev history (attached) and that seems to explain what has happened...

Original manual was for the 6LY2-STE only - and the rev added 6LY2A-STP and 6LYA-STP and

Page 10-25 (citing 0.4mm exh was original - the other pgs (2-11 & 10-31-2) were added and apparently the exhaust clearance spec was changed to 0.5mm

Pg 10-31-2 applies to the 6LY2-STE & 6LYA-STE and shows they were revised to the 0.5mm spec w/ the added page (and the 6LY2-STE per pg 10-31 was revised to the 0.5mm spec)

Above seems to support 0.5mm as the correct / latest spec and the 0.4mm on pg 10.25 was missed in the update
