Looks like I am your huckleberry again. 2800RPM would get me 15 knots at 6gph. The 6gph figure is a WAG and not exact. In a combined mixed use application I would actually get better....like 4gph average since most of my use was day use and day use had a lot of no wake zones in the mix.

3100RPM is max continuous power and 3300 is max rated power(for one hour I believe). At WOT, when I first got the boat, I could do about 25knots. ANd that was fairly underpropped because I was getting close to 3600RPMs. Theoretically you could cruise at 3000 and I would get about 17knots there but I never felt like pushing it that hard. ANd realistically I wouldn't being that I was so underpropped. But I just didn't run it that hard.

What else you need???...;)

And as I stated, this is with a Pilot II. A close friend of mine has a 1998 with a 230hp Yanmar 4LH. Only 10hp difference. He is doing about 13 knots at 2800 and 15 knots at 3000. Wide open he struggles to 17ish. The hull shape difference is significant from the Pilot I to the Pilot II.

Baker thanks again for the info. I am not a speedster with the Shamrock. The 18 knt cruise she gives me is fine. My fishing buddies with their go fast rigs are always egging me onto push the throttle. She will top out at about 28knts but I never go there. 2800 rpms on the gaser gives me the 18kts at about 10 gph keeping the secondaries at bay. I could live with the 17kts on the MS but understand you feel you are pushing it. So I bottom line is I can do 15 to 16knts with a 2002 or older and have the spacious lower cabin with the V bunk or do 18knts with a 2003 or newer and have a cramped cabin. I like the idea of the more efficient reconfigured hull but am really turned off on the cramped inefficient cabin. I guess we have some thinking to do. I am glad I found this site.

I think you may struggle with the older hull and 200ish horsepower. Just saying. As much as I did not like the interior layout, I would still take it with the better hull versus the older hull and/or less power. Read again. My buddy with the 230hp Yanmar on a 1998 would struggle to get 15 knots and is more in the 13 knot range. The newer hull shape is good for 2 knots in the reasonable cruise power settings and significantly more in the upper range.
