Happy Thanksgiving to you all and greetings from the Dismal Swamp Canal! Thank you for your help in getting the word out to boaters on a couple of issues. Believe it or not, we are still receiving questions regarding duckweed. Please let your boaters know that duckweed is a summer plant which proliferates when it is very hot and dry. We have not had as issue with this for months!

We are pleased to report the fire in the Great Dismal Swamp National Wildlife Refuge is officially out as of yesterday! Lake Drummond is accessible by dinghy or canoe for those who would like to visit the lake. We all are thrilled this chapter in the Swamps history is now in the past! Stay warm if you are still heading south!
