Diesel fuel in MDJA genny oil

There is fuel in the oil of my3.5 KW MDJA Onan. My understanding is bad injector pump, injector tip broken could cause this. Where else should I be looking for cause? What 1st steps should I take to determine the cause? Remedy? Thanks
 
Fuel transfer pump diaphram. If I am not mistaken the 3.5 Onan is a three cyl. diesel. I would think if you broke an injector tip you would notice a lot more than fuel in oil. Like rough running, smoke, etc..

MDJA is a single cylinder
 
Then I would assume the fuel transfer pump is the culprit.
 
Yea, go after the fuel lift pump first. If much is wrong with inj pump or inj, that thing will not run at all.
