Can't help with iPad instructions, but there are 2 photos that often get confused.
The profile photo is the pic shown on your PUBLIC PROFILE page. Yours shows your trawler as shown above.
There's also the avatar as shown net to your name. That is changed on the USER CP page.

If using the iPad/iPhone app it is easy. Touch 3 horizontal lines in upper left corner of screen. Select "people" 2nd from bottom
Select your name top choice
Click camera icon in lower right corner of your avatar photo
This opens your photos and you simply select the one you wish. Voila
