Man overboard alarms?

Has anyone used something like Safety Turtle or other types of proximity alarms that are usually designed for kids?
It seems if someone is wearing one and leaves the circle or falls overboard then with the alarm sounding it would make a recovery quicker?
Some work through your smartphone others are self contained. Some on Amazon or Ebay are only $20. Might be cheap insurance as an additional safety tool.
Thoughts or experiences?

Knowing someone going overboard immediately usually results in almost immediate recovery...especially at night.

For every minute you put between you and the unknown MOB exponentially decreases the chances of finding them if no survival equipment or only a pfd.

Add any kind of signaling devices once over dramatically helps...but the real key is immediate notification of MOB.

You will want something that can be submerged in salt water. There are a variety on the market, most designed for commercial crew use. But I recall Raymarine having one for instance: http://www.raymarine.com/view/?id=715

The boat I race Wednesday nights on has an older system made in the mid to late 90's, I don't know the brand but it has a white base station with multiple fobs of different colors stored on it (not relevant just describing how it looks in case someone else knows). We were doing live MOB drills this week after racing and tested the system, it didn't go off at all.

I spend much of my time on the boat alone, I have a Raymarine Lifetag system installed, it sounds an alarm if I go overboard. The alarm circuit also powers a relay that halts power to the fuel solenoid on my engine shutting it down. Last thing I want to watch from the water is the boat cruising off on auto pilot!
