Nice to meet you, I'm Jacquie.

I was raised by an old salt who "made me" cruise as a kid each summer. I so didn't appreciate then and so yearn for now.

I've been on boats (and owned) both sailing and power all my life but finally bought the retirement condo a few years early, can't retire yet (53). Its probably a little small for most of you, but she's perfect for me as I can trailer her anywhere. Conchy Jac is my Rosborough RF246 with twin 115 Yamaha's. Maiden voyage was from Tarpon Springs to 10,000 Islands in FL and this past May I took her home to the Bahamas. West Coast, through Lake O, down to Ft. L then Bimini, Andros and Exuma's. She's awesome in heavy weather and fits in skinny places!

I'm an odd ball cruiser, have the boat but still working so can't go for more than 3 weeks at a time until I retire. Also a single woman owner/captain. That folks find really odd. You just have to do what you love and ocean/water/cruising is what I was raised on.

I'm looking forward to meeting other cruisers who know and love the life and welcome meeting anyone in my west coast FL cruising home grounds, Tarpon Springs!

Jacquie
Welcome aboard-great boat-many miles to go. Lady skippers are not to uncommon in these parts.

Hey Rossigal: Just down the street from you is one of our most prolific (however frustrated) cruisers......Janice aboard Seaweed. I love your choice of boats. One day when we downsize, I'm sure the Rossborough will be on our short list.

Give us a shout if you're down this way in Longboat Key. My Admiral and I will surely be cruising Tarpon Springs, and we both like powerful women.

Welcome from Clearwater! Great looking boat, enjoy your dreams!

Welcome aboard. It's obviously in your blood if you're doing all of those things and going all of those places without being retired yet. Happy voyages and experiences.

Very cool story. Welcome.

You said you took your boat home to the Bahamas, what part of the Bahamas are you from?

Welcome aboard and congrats on being able to live your dream.

Welcome. Glad you are hear....Have a friend that lives in Tarpon Springs.

Welcome aboard, Jacquie! Love your choice of boats! Trailerability adds so much flexibility to your destinations if you don't live on an island! I hope you left the trailer on the mainland.

I also appreciate your look-ahead planning for retirement. It's great when you can buy the boat before you retire. You'll have the chance to make her your own before your retirement date.

Is there a story behind the boat name Conchy Jac?

Wifey B: Yes, you're very odd. Where's Janice. Come in Janice. Another lady like you.

Seriously, nothing at all odd about it to me. You have a plan. You have a boat you like and enjoy. More power to you. And I think the outboard trawler type is a sensible idea for all the same reasons center consoles are outboard. I think you'll see more and larger like that.

Soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo glad to have you here. I'm very odd and I'm sure everyone here will attest to that, just a different kind of odd. :D

Hi Jacquie,

Nice to see another trailer-boat cruiser! Maybe when you have more time you'll want to haul Conchy Jac up to the PNW and give the Inside Passage a try. It's cooler and rainy, but gorgeous.

True! But we all still love you and are glad you are here on TF!!!:thumb::D

Born in Nassau, raised in Freeport and Abaco but that was many years ago. I've been in States for a while.

Yes, the its a spin on Conchy Joe, a Bahamian nickname, but I'm Jacquie.

Thanks for all the welcomes! Look forward to meeting in the future.

As hubby B, I second Flywright. I just get the feeling you will truly enjoy retirement. While we have many here doing so, if you look at a cross section of the population there are many who don't. They're totally unprepared having developed no hobbies. Our hobby was obviously boating and we'd been working on that a long long time.

ther is a resturant by that name near me in jensen beach florida

Guessing with the name Conchy Joe, they are the real deal and have great food :) I'll have to look that up. Have friends in Stuart not too far that grew up with me in Freeport so thinking we should all go. Thanks!

Many thanks and I agree. I find that currently so many with nothing to look forward to. I don't get it, they need to get on the water :) Fish, cruise, dive, sail, kayak, gunkhole, explore, make friends, wake up to incredible sunrises, long beach walks, pot lucks and sunsets. Life is good!

Rossie in the East Caribbean?

Rossigal, do you think your Rossie is safe enough to cruise in the Eastern Caribbean? Or Western Caribbean? Is range a problem? What is your power setup?

I'd feel secure in it. Range depends on speed. At 20 knts I have a 215 mile range, at 4 knts I have twice that. As the Rossi's come with various engine arrangements, you'd have to know the particulars of "that" boat. Mine has twins so my comfort level cruising the islands is increased.

Engine choice

I couldn't see details of your Rossie in your profile. What engine setup do you have? Sounds like a pair of 115 HP? Looks like you are enjoying your boat. Happy for you.

Greetings fellow soloist. And congratulations on the Rosborough. That's a fine boat. I have been on them and they are very pretty. There's lots of space inside her too, a surprising amount for her length. What a wonderful boat you chose. Enjoy her.

And if you happen to see Seaweed along the waterways, say hello.

Hi Rossigal,
That's a ripper of a boat you have there !!!!!
Really love her, just looked on the net at a few similar that were for sale.
When I saw your pic I thought there was another :D "Nimiane" :D over there, but it is the bow. My stern looks identical at first glance.
You will love the ability of being able to trailer her to different cruising anywhere around the country.
Happy cruising.:)
pics = don't you think we look familiar, except that's my cute derrier.

Janice, I don't own a Rossie 246 yet. I am still in the process of searching for one in the East Coast. I saw one in Oregon, but it is kind of hard to go that far to inspect it. And then it costs over $4k just to trailer her back home.
