What is the accepted spacing between my prop and my cutless bearing.

I am replacing shafts due to replacing gears.

My shafts a 1 1/2"

I think I have about 1 1/2" between the prop and the cutless bearing right now.

Am I correct in assuming you have twins and the cutlass bearing you are* referring to is in a strut? If so, the shaft zinc would be on the other side of the strut. If that's the case, you may want to see if a little more room makes it easier to get a prop puller in there. On my boat (single with 1 1/2" shaft) there is likely 4 to 5" between the cutlass bearing in the shaft log and the prop as there needs to be room for the zinc.

I think a guidline is that 1 to 1.5 shaft diameters is OK. You are about 1 shaft diameter so you are good.
