Nice looking rub rail. You gonna place stainless or burnished aluminum rail over its upper and/or lower leading edges?

Luv your knife like entry bow shape! Yeah baby!!

Thanks mate. I'm putting some 20mm thick HDPE Polyethylene strips (kind of like Teflon) on the three rub rails. Same type as they have in boat trailers but thicker

Just going the screw it on every 300mm. That way I can replace it when needed

Single center screw or doubled - top and bottom? 11.811 inches is a fair spread. That material pretty stiff and rugged? Metal is often 6 to 8 inched on center.

Oh I don't know mate. I was just assuming 300 mm would do. Maybe I'll need to look at the data sheet from the supplier once get to that stage :).

Matt-you are going to look at instructions? You've gotten this far without any, why start now?

Gday folks. Have had a bit going on the last week and haven't been in the mood to work on SOLSTICE but today I broke the slum and did some sanding and have begun prepping the stbd bow section for faring in the flare to reduce the clunky look she currently has and I'll be shaping some epoxy filler to curve in from the rub rail and blending it in to the plywood.

Hope that makes sense. Bit hard to explain my vision some times.

and thats the important thing. :thumb: Out here fishing isn't that hot due to over fishing. There are plenty of fish but all small. The looks of your catch reminded me of fishing here thirty years ago

Today's effort. Looks a bit rough but will clean up once sanded and faired

Hendo you are making me tired. Got me thinking of buying one of them kady krogen's or maybe a greenline hybrid either would be lots less wurk then making one from scratch but not as much fun

More glassing and filleting of the toe rail and bowsprit section done today. Again; disregard the ugliness and the runs from an earlier job. This will all be covered up with fairing filler shortly.

That's a shame mate. Overfished by rec fishers or commercial fishers?

The fisheries here are heavily moderated which is great to see. Most people do the right thing but there are a few that think the fishing seasons and rules don't apply to them.

If fisheries department get a hold of you they can take your boat, trailer, car and fishing rods etc plus massive fines.

Well Matt, I can honestly report that Michelle is doing her part in saving the local fisheries. The 'fish' I posted, was the last one she has caught, despite a renewed effort.

I actually heard a couple of them laughing out loud as they swam by her bait!

I hope you manage to keep things like they are. What happened here was foreign factory ships stripping the seas. They moved the boundary out but the damage was done. Japan signed the international agreement to stop whaling but they kept right on killing them for the meat market. When president bush questioned them there answer was these whales are taken for scientific research only. Yeah right. Right now there is big demand for abalone and poaching is running rampant because the poachers just buy new boats when taken by the courts and start poaching again. Again this is for the Japanese market's insatiable demand for abalone.

Ah the Japanese whaling. Yeah I'm very anti-whaling. I'm a volly for Sea shepherd in Fremantle. Ive done some behind the scenes work on their vessels when they come to port and give one day a fortnight rattling a tin collecting donations for the cause. Another thing close to my heart is ocean rubbish. I can't believe how many people just dump their crap. A dive club connected with Sea Shepherd that I'm a part of does an annual underwater clean up of the harbour. Last year we pulled out 10 tonne of crap from tyres to batteries to toilets and prams out of our harbour.

Bless you for it. Littering and dumping is really disgusting. I lose a lot of respect for someone when I see them throw trash out the window.
