I agree. It's only a boat name and in a case like that for a totally tax payer funded research vessel, it would be great PR.

But that's bureaucrats for you, tripping over dollars to pick up nickels.

Hi Richard , I totally agree with you, the bow section is far to big and isn't in proportion with the rest of the hull. But when you spend £200m on a research vessel it has to have a dignified name; David Attenbough is one of my heroes , so I think its a fitting result.
