Interesting but I'm not sure about the ride in big seas. For guests, the forward accommodations might cause a little sea sickness.

one can't help but imagine this yacht would cost a fortune to operate, while also contributing a non-trivial amount of additional pollution to*the shipping world's already considerable carbon footprint

It's a supply vessel. Looks like a new-build though, not a conversion. Although it's possible that Damen had a canceled order.

I say let the owner spend his money anyway he likes. At least $55 million will be going into he local economy, paying workers' salaries, sending their kids to school, supporting third world countries who harvest and export exotic hardwoods, etc.

Win-win situation for all.
