Interesting boats

Get building; the plans and cutting files are only $1400.

Over 100 hulls already built: impressive!

Wonder the cost if I hired workers into my company - specifically for building this boat, with me 50% of build-time on active duty too??

Let's say average for on-site hired persons doing 40 hr. weeks (in CA U.S.): One do-it / hands-on build manager $2K per wk., two craftsmen $3.5K per wk., two smart helpers $1.5K per wk. Estimate weekly cost = $7K per wk. all inclusive for hired help. My time at 50% on site (20 hrs. a week) equivalents to $2K sweat equity = total labor cost $9K weekly. Total out of my pocket $7K weekly. Workers paid going rate value at salary and/or hourly wage.

Lets say we can build it complete in 13 months: 56 wks x $7K = $392K (my sweet equity = $112K)

Yard to build it in and xtra costs such as shipping etc, etc = $30K

How much do parts cost, inclusive engine etc... $350K to $400K??

That would mean (calculating on high $ide at first blush): For $822K Boat would be ready for splash. Add in my $112K SE and it costs bit under $1M - in CA, U.S. that is...

Soooo - How much is boat value once fully completed and all bugs worked out - $1.5M / 1.75M / $2M???

Sippen coffee and just wondering!

Have a look here for exact figures for finished hull, or ready cut kit for home welding.

Similar length boat, steel, but different shape : €62k finished hull/superstructure ready for engines/paint.... Click on PDF button to get kit prices: €26k for 11 tons cut steel.

Not so out of reach...second hand engines/gboxes, industrial bridge Epoxy paint etc etc

TF forum member vonovik is about to build this Bruce Robets design.

Lovely lines; proper pilot house trawler.

Reminds me a bit of those beautiful Watson 60' explorer yachts...

...but $3m cheaper!

Didn't TF member Conal just build that Bruce Roberts design and start cruising it?

I believe pics #'s 1&2 in the above post are photos of Conall's boat or a very near sister ship.

45' (I think) home built steel Seaton design "Jim Dandy" 671 Detroit dry stack ,Green Turtle Bay today .

DD,
Maybe that's what my Willard wants to be when she grows up.

Anchor dosn't look up to the job.

This thing is starting to grow on me but it's steel . It could use some wood on it somewhere to take the edge off . I've been aboard it a couple years ago . The engine room is huge .

Here's a good looking little steel ship I came across earlier today:

Here's the link for those who want to see the specs on this beauty:

Classic 58 « CONRAD YACHTS CONRAD YACHTS

I love these things. I can definitely see myself rocking a tall, skinny, buff colored, 1910's steamship stack. If I had enough money for one of these, I could afford to pay somebody else to maintain all of that beautiful brightwork, and to fit a proper anchor.

I agree with you Dave. She is beautiful. I could wonder the kind of anchor that would be appropriate for her size and tonnage...

You're gonna get another anchor debate going!! LOL

Nice looking boat with fly bridge - what's not to love?? Oh yeah - the anchor!

Art,
I like that anchor more than that silly stack.
And that type of FB is two thumbs up for me!
Don't know why but that window style always looks great.

This is a steal, I want her but Admiral says no. Somebody buy this yacht!
JohnP

JohnP, is that the one that was on here earlier where they were trying to do a diesel electric propulsion system using a volvo genset and two electric drives?

I think I recall it being in south FL, but don't recall exact specifics.

I would like to know the outcome of the getset thing.

Hi to all...

Scrolling through a few pics I noticed this beauty.

Is that boat salty or what...

I can see her hauling up a load of sardine up in Monterey Bay with John Stienbeck along for the ride.

If the owner is on the forum - apologies for not asking in advance of posting.

I believe these pictures are from a cruise to Emerald Bay at Catalina Island. The owner was friendly and cool.

And another of my favorite boats...

Again, apologies to the owner for posting without asking...

Perhaps this vessel is more sailor than trawler... like it regardless.
