    • Ads that are inactive for 180 days or longer may be moved to the Classified Archive and locked. Ads may be relisted if the item is still current. Alternatively, owners may contact a Moderator to reinstate an archived ad.
    • The Classified section is for advertising, members are asked to refrain from posting discussions to a Classified Ad. Please start a discussion thread or PM the owner for discussions.
    • Do not hijack another member's ad by posting unsolicited commentary. Example: if a member has posted an ad offering an anchor for sale, don't add a post to his thread stating that you have an anchor you'd like to get rid of also. Posts deemed as unsolicited commentary may be removed.
    • For your own security, do NOT include your e-mail or phone number in your ad. Instead request that interested parties contact you via PM (private message) to provide owners contact info.
    • Brokers, Dealers, or those with a commercial interest in a sale are prohibited from posting in Classifieds.
    • Only Trawler Forum Commercial Members may post ads in the Commercial section. You must be a designated Commercial Member to start threads in this section of the forum. (Contact a moderator if you have questions about this)
    • Don't post links to commercial sites where you are also offering the boat, such as eBay, Craigslist or Yachtworld, etc. unless it contains a more in-depth description, additional information or pictures.
    • Place only one ad per item (you may repost only when your ad has expired and been removed).
    For Sale ads MUST include:
    • Asking price

    • Exterior picture or pictures
    • Interior picture or pictures (boats)
For maximum impact & exposure, it is suggested the Ad Title include: Year, Manufacturer, Model, Length, Price, and Location or at the very top of the ad body. • Avoid Scams.

Our classifieds are free and anyone registered here is welcome to post an ad.
Be aware that there are unscrupulous folks out there. Avoid any interaction that seems odd to you or feels wrong. Inquiries from unknown buyers, buyers agents and other non-traditional approaches should be treated with extreme caution.

Beware of unsolicited contacts offering to put you in touch with someone else who is buying or selling via e-mail or text.

Do not post your e-mail address or phone number in a classifieds ad.

Hints that you may be dealing with a Scammer:
    • Seller or Buyer approaches you via a direct email or PM and then steers you to an off-site communication method (text or email).
    • No posts or very few forum posts.
    • Recent forum membership
    • Insists on conducting negotiations via email or text rather than PM
    • Requires payment via Bank Transfer, BitCoin/CryptoCurrency, WesternUnion or other unsecured method.
    • Buyer or Seller suggests Paypal "Friends and Family" payment. Paypal is a good way to arrange payment but an invoice for goods and services should be used rather than "Friends and Family". "Friends and Family" avoids fees BUT there is no recourse if the transaction runs aground. Friends and Family is for gifts only. There is no protection for Friends and Family transactions, so never ever use it to buy something.
    • Declines to allow viewing the item before proceeding with the transaction.

I know the owner and have been on the boat a few times. Very nicely maintained. Wish I could afford it. Really like the factory insulated hull.

Thanks for the link. Very nice boat, looks perfectly maintained.

When I am on a dock with a 49 RPH looking up at that bow I think "this isn't a boat, its a ship!"

Gorgeous! And with all the bells and whistles! !

Wow, would love to have an insulated hull! Definitely outside my budget though.

At the listed price this boat isn't going to take long to sell. Really good deal for the right person.

Beautiful boat .

49ft, Lehman 120s fitted. What a great workhorse those engines have been.

I gotta say it but that boat looks tired and worn to me. :nonono:

I bought my 44 from a couple that moved up to one of these. When they were getting too old, they asked me to take a serious look at their 49, hoping I would want to move to it. I did the serious look, but didn't move. What I didn't like was the too high front end and the underpowered Lehman 120s.

It's a full displacement hull and weighs in at 70,000 lbs (per the seller). It has more than enough power (too much actually) to operate within its designed speed range.

Freeboard is beneficial in big swells and heavy seas. Not unlike the height of a newer KK 48 or Nordhavn 47. Plus lots of headroom below. The 49 requires about 60-65 HP at 7 knots and 90-100 HP at 8.

The pictures show two points for me, lots of teak trim and decks. A boat house would be nice.

don't know about the boat at that price. I have a difficult time thinking about spending $250K on a 1983 boat that is already 33 years old and will be 50 years old when I am finished. I love the Defever layout, but think any year beginning in 2 will definitely serve me better for the long haul.

I read the price on the boat as $259,000 cdn (approx. $183,000 usd) according to the sellers ad.

DD 492. Right you are. Quite a bit cheaper.

Thanks Diesel Duck. This configuration would make a nice live aboard or long term cruiser as the space is quite generous and the pilothouse acts as a separate room for those "i need a little privacy" times .
As to known issues about this model of De Fever I am unaware as I know little of the model, but this looks to be a good example and at least well cared for if not very well. I see no challenge with the choice of Lehman 120's if they have been looked after regularly.
Bring on more examples as I think many of us here on the forum are planning to cruise in the next couple of years and this is our homework time.
Thanks

If I wasn't "allergic" to brightwork and teak decks, I'd be all over it. The 6' draft is a bit much for the ICW, as well. Perfect boat for the PNW, though.

That 49' has always been my favorite look. Very masculine vessel. I'd be satisfied with that huge pilothouse and Portuguese Bridge, even if I had to graft it to Manatee. Ya think it would work?

As a 49RPH owner I think your numbers are wrong, although that low hp needed would be nice for the knots you quote, it's higher than that by a long shot at least as standard.

Gw

Yes, installed Hp is much more. What engines in your vessel? Know of several 48s and 49s whose numbers are pretty close to those I mentioned when doing longer journeys with economy paramount. But as usual I'm sure I'm wrong.

I keep close track of nmpg and over the past 10 years have averaged right at 1.4 nmpg including genset and diesel heat. This number drops quickly on short runs where I'll run say 8.2 - 8.5 knots. 7.8 seems the economy sweet spot.

We also own a a 49rph, a '79, twin leman 120's.
With that hull 120's are plenty and the high bow is comfortable to have. We will often on calm days here on the Chesapeake shut one down and freewheel the prop (don't mean to start up that conversation) and with @200rpm more on the running engine do the same speed ( 1750-1800 = @ 7-7.5 kts)
The high bow does come in handy for those storms coming from the NE and we have to get somewhere.
We weigh 54,000 lbs and draw 4.5 ft.
Love the boat.

My 48 has the twin Lehmans. As to running one and free wheeling, it's costing you fuel. At 1400rpm we were burning 1.9gph total. At 1500rpm it's about 2.5gph. That's a huge difference on our hull which is a bit different than the 49. The 48 is much more of a displacement hull vs the 49. A lot less windage on the 48 so that probably contributes to the numbers.

Sorry Larry...but no...
