What's your moorage rate?

The friendliest place on the web for anyone who enjoys boating.
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
Powell River. Not bad for new concrete floats and a hour and a half (trawler speed) from Desolation Sound. But sometimes I wonder if I'm the only one without the seniors discount. I'm sure that will be gone by the time I'm a senior, either that or a senior will be 80 years old...

Currently at Great Harbour Cay, Berry Islands, Bahamas. Air temp mid to high 70's, water temp mid 70's.
Rate is $16 per foot per month, electric is $.75 per kWh, wash down water is free, potable water is $.50 per gallon.

I consider this place a bargain.

How can they tell from when you are using the hose to wash down versus fill you tank?

In Skagway, Alaska we pay $117 a month on the hard, plus 6 percent sales tax in the summer months (39 feet). No electric. Free water. To haul in and out round trip $200.

Menzies, The potable water is reverse osmosis through a separate metered system.

The lowest I have seen is in Kake Alaska, $360 per year for 40 feet plus power with a 10% discount for payment in advance.

Tom

Tom,
That's lower than at Thorne Bay where I rented a 37' slip for $570 a year.
In Kake is that $360 rate for the new floats? ... I assume they are done now .. or is it the rate for the old floats?

On the Delaware river in New Jersey we pat $3240 in water fro the season and $1800 inside storage in the winter. Electric averages about $120 for the season

40' slip with 25 amp power and water $2150 per year, $75.00 per month if a livaboard!

35 ft covered slip in Vallejo, CA, 16 ft of vertical clearance, double slip with single side tie but no neighbor at the present - $319 per month including water and electricity.

As an added benefit, the USCG operates 50-60 ft off my stern providing round the clock security at no extra charge. Thanks USCG!!

San Diego

$680/mo + electricity. Yup... $8,160 a year. :nonono: 40' slip. 30amp service.

Great location (west end of Harbor) but marina, docks & bathrooms pretty dilapidated. They renovated pool last year. Hopefully they use some of my fees to replace/enlarge bathrooms and install working WiFi! :banghead: :ermm:

I may just join you $800 month for 30' and going up soon inc power/water/parking
The 5 marinas in Brooklyn are around the same rate, Long Island is less generous with limited included electricity. While Dolphin is a little "rustic" in its facilities, the docks are all floating, good berth width, no showers, but you can shower on your boat using their electricity for the HWS.

Port of Edmonds, WA., 40' covered berth, $10000/year assuming $65/mo electricity (typical).

The story of this port (since I first moored here in 1974), is that the popularity of the location means that they can always find tenants. Since 1974, moorage fees have increased around 1200%, and that doesn't include inflation! Port management will continue to increase fees that exceed the cost of living, at least until their business plan fails.

I rely on a sub-lease during the summer season to help cover the moorage while we are cruising. This keeps my annual moorage expenses around $7200 which does not includes moorage expenses while cruising.

I'm paying just under $400 pm, inclusive of water, electricity and taxes etc. But I own the sub-lease. It's $1000 pm for renters, plus $200 pm to liveaboard whether you own the sub-lease or not.

Dockside Marina is well located being walking distance or free ferry ride to Brisbane CBD (downtown) and has quite a few liveaboards.

If you are interested in a comparison to EU / Germany: 40'x14', 140 Euro / month, + 20 Euro electricity, water for free. + car parking etc. is around 2000 Euro per year.
Our slip is inland, same size of slip at the Baltic coast pays up to 5000 per year...

Ok, just for entertainment.

Las Olas Marina, Fort Lauderdale.
30' $8870 plus $1095 utilities
40' $13432 plus $1460 utilities
50' $19893 plus $1825 utilities

Dania Beach Marina, Dania Beach
$9000 for all three sizes, but air draft limit of 18'.

Marina Bay, Fort Lauderdale
30' $9308 plus $0.14 per kwh
40' $12410 plus $0.14
50' $22813 plus $0.14

Thirty-four foot slip in Oceanside is $510 per month with unmetered water and 30-amp power. San Diego county thinks I am using some "public" space, so they charge me about $130 per year plus about $300 per year property tax. Single slips, concrete docks. Shipyard in the harbor can do moderate jobs including bottom paint, mechanical, electrical.

For a contrast, a friend has a 35-foot slip in Dana Point that costs him about $620 per month plus the "use tax" and property tax. Orange County is looking for somewhere north of $175 million to "revitalize" the harbor, so someone has to pay for the "improvements". :banghead:

580 per month a 40x20 ft. a marina owned boathouse water incl. elec separate 30 amp service. Everett wa.

$1,100 a month including water, electric, wifi and pool. Pump outs $15.00. For 53 ft. This is Turtle Cove marina in Tarpon Springs.

Canal Marina on the Fremont Cut in Seattle, I'm in a 40ft slip, $400/mo. Includes water, electricity, aggressive crows and a few dirtbag livaboards.

Watch Hill Boat Yard (RI). Some people use the word "mooring" but mean a "slip" or "dock". We're hanging on an actual mooring (500# Dor-Mor). Summer mooring is $2,857. Winter storage (haul, powerwash, block, and Spring launch) is $1,612. Total $4,459. Not bad for the high-rent district. I've been a customer at this yard for 47 + years, so they cut me some slack, pius a little discount for being a year-round customer. If I stayed at a slip, Summer cost would be $137 per foot, (NT34 = $4,658). Slips provide water and electricity, but electricity on larger slips is metered, and Yard monitors usage. High usage appears to be double 50 amp power, running A/C 24/7.
As mentioned, here in New England, we have a short season and the yards and marinas have high rents, when compared to the NorthWest and South.

350.00 per mo. + electricity, includes water. Floating docks...

I am in his marina. In a slightly bigger slip so I can keep my dinghy on a dock in my slip. $385 for a 50x18 foot slip.

Galesville, MD, 60-foot slip, full finger pier on one side, pilings separating us from our neighbor's 53-foot Hat on the other side, water free, electricity metered, $5,500/year.

Seward Alaska

50' slip, but charged for 53' OAL $2700 per year which breaks down to $225 per month. Power at $.26 per kwh 4 year approx wait list for a slip.

We're on the list to get a slip in Valdez, Alaska (because its closer to where we like to go). This will be $1900 per year, but we wont leave the boat there year round because of the heavy snow.

You can also buy a slip at a private marina in Whittier Alaska for $150,000 and the "condo fee" is approx $4,000 per year

Seattle covered moorage. CAM is $215/month + around $8/month elec.
Similar to a condo 'ownership'. Paid $20+k in 2002 for the right to use the slip.

Oriental, NC from a marina website
35 ft. Slip $ 200/month (shallow draft, primarily for motor vessels)
40 ft. Slip $ 275/month
50 ft. Slip $ 300/month
Catamaran Slip $ 325/month

Electric Extra
Pool

...and, this is not a dump.

It pains me to post this but it's expensive in Paradise!

Dunkirk NY, Chadwick Bay Marina, seasonal Apr-Oct. 30 ft with electric and water at no extra charge. 20% discount if paid in Jan. $1200.00.
Looking for a winter base, so this thread is helpful.
Thanks

As B&B said, the South Florida rates are, um, "entertaining". Here in Pompano Beach/Lighthouse Point, $27 per foot, per month, plus electricity, plus "Clean Marina" charge. All that comes to a bit over $16K per year for our 45-footer. Then, if you want to take full advantage of the Club's facilities, you really need to join the Club (another large chunk of money), but there are restaurant/bar credits for paying in full for the year, bringing in new members, etc. We love it here, but it ain't cheap!
