Old lines

What do you do with old lines? I've got a pile in the basement of old dock lines, jib sheets, traveller lines, etc, etc.. They've lived a hard life. Looking for ideas other than just letting the pile grow.

When switching to all-chain I did recycle the old anchor rode into a set of 'storm' dock lines but as for the rest of the pile...

I have a few old lines securing the tarp that is covering my deck furniture.
I have 2 coiled up behind the seat of my pickup to tie down loads or in case someone needs to get pulled out of a ditch or snow bank.
One is in the shed for the grandkids to use for tug of war.

But like you I still have a slew of them laying around.

Drop them off at your favorite boatyard or marina. They will either use them in the yard or as additional storm lines for boats in the marina.

Two of my old mooring lines are holding up a tree that split in half. With only one half left it's vulnerable to west winds.

I need to top the tree.
