I am thinking of having some dripless shaft seals (DSS) installed.

Can someone recommend a good yard in the Portland OR, Astoria OR or Ilwaco WA that can pull my boat and install these seals?

Tom, I had my boat put back together after it was shipped by Multnomah Yacht Repair. I'd give them a whole hearted recommendation except that (a) they didn't get my boat done until 2+ weeks after they promised it would be ready. Oh, and did I mention the boat arrived there in April and they had it until August, but didn't start on it until mid-July.

Also, a friend of mine had his boat repaired there after some storm damage and he was not happy with the work they did.

Dripless shafts? I'm sure they could handle that without any issues.

As a backup, Schooner Creek is good but much more expensive. A friend had a boat worked on there and found lots of extra charges when he went to settle the bill. I had my 330 Sundancer worked on at Schooner Creek and had no issues.

Both of these yards have a travel lift that could handle your boat. As close as you are, it would probably be worth an afternoon drive down there to talk with each of them.

Tom,
I used Multnomah to do my Haulout for a Survey. The owner, (can't remember his name) seems like he knows his stuff. He has problems keeping a good staff and therefore has had problems meeting deadlines. A few people have had "problems" with the yard. It is a old Marina and somewhat decrepit, but he does have a travel lift that could accommodate my boat, although his scales on the lift was not working. Must have a problem he hasent got around to fixing.
Based on the "problems" as noted above, unless it was an emergency I most likely would not use them.
I looked around the Portland area for a reputable yard to install a water maker and have ultimately decided to have it done next spring up in Seattle.
Portland is a little different to say the least with regards to Yards. I love my Marina on Hayden Island, other than the Air Traffic. But finding reputable vendors is tough.

Sells Marine service does good work and is "somewhat" reasonable on costs. He has a floating lift that may have limits to size. I know he lifted and did work on my friends 42 ft Meridian with no problems. Worth a call to check. If my boat was on the Columbia, he would be my go to guy for service.

I have had several jobs done at Schooner Creek. Always have done very good work but at a VERY high price. What GFC says is correct. Quite a lot of hidden costs come with the final bill.

Run down to Astoria and pull it out do the job yourself.
Easy as can be.
