Has anyone replaced their R22 with R134a ? I bought a can of the R134a which came with a cheap guage and hose but it will not connect to the R22 fittings. Can anyone direct me to exactly what fitting I need to charge with these throwaway cans. I bought a R12 to R134a fitting thinking R12 & R22 took the same fitting but no joy.

Yes I know all the negatives but this is`a rusted out piece of crap with a slow leak that I want to squeak through the rest of the season.

R-22and R-134 are NOT the same ..R-134 is the replacement for R-12.! R-410 is the replacement for R-22. Do not mix them. You must recharge your R-22 with R-22 .

No wonder I couldn't find a fitting. Thanks, found out r424a is drop in replacement.

But where can you buy that? Please let us know as I'm looking at a similar project

You need a license to buy R12 or R22, not sure about any of the others. I have a 25# can of R22 but no more R22 A/C units. Anyone in the Houston area need any?
