Will do Alan. Parks nails it again. We gotta get that man his own title, something like "Marine Hardware King" maybe...
No- that doesn't do him justice. Maybe.. the "Marine Anything Guru"??
This will certainly open up a whole world of refurb on the onboard fresh water system.

Has anyone purchased the Pex aftermarket tool that HD sells? Is it the same quality as the OEM tool?

I don't recall ever having to use any kind of special tool with them. They are very easy to use and reliable.

Captain Bill,
Qest on this install will be fine, I just like the look of the Pex fittings with the small SS clamps. Clean. And since I can tie into any existing water line on the boat, I can convert to Pex and do it in sections and blending the two is... Easy ;).

Fork....thanks for the photos of the process....really helps. Did you get the complementary case of beer with your order? Looks like a one case project. When Parks delivers and helps, ... at least two cases.

Larry- I did NOT get a complimentary case of beer. I wonder how Parks managed to forget to mention that to me....;).
On a less happy note I am about to go to HD and grab my fittings to install the shower. That's good. Bad is how many attempts I have made to get the little FG insert primed and painted by brush. I finally stripped it all back off a couple of hours ago and restarted. I've added some 333 to my Duralux primer and it's better- but not nearly as good as the effort that has gone into refinishing the darn thing. So- if by chance anyone had high expectations of a "yacht like" appearance to my simple paint job- please be fair and immediately lower your expectations;).

No go. Not one, much less two fittings in the town of Gulfport!! My project has shifted to a crawl!!

Man did I blow it again. The necessary fittings WERE in the box of parts as I found out picking up at the boat a few minutes ago. :(
Sorry Parks...
Note: these are very special- take care not to lose.
Notice the threads above the black seal.

Fork: Better check again....maybe the case of beer is there after-all.

Man- you are killing me Larry!!! The missing fittings were inside a small bag that was taped inside of the crumpled bag that the product was shipped in. On the way home now- but will have another look for the "beer bag" when I return Wed/Thurs. I sure hope Parks packed it in dry ice and sent limes ;).
Final assembly in a couple of days.

If you guys would ever come visit me in Miami, I'd be glad to buy the beer.

Ok- new drama. I'm gonna drop this overboard and just screw on a piece of plywood. ImageUploadedByTrawler Forum1442581818.520026.jpg

Little ole' me never confirmed that the thread length (which is quite adequate) on the base of the faucet was sufficiently long enough to allow for a nut and then the nylon adapter. Dang...

Believe it or not- this will require grinding (hard to do here on the boat) the FG covering, then removing about 1/2 of the plywood strengthener. I'm afraid the transom shower for this weekend will have to be a bucket of saltwater dipped out of the Gulf!
So I'm picking up/ covering the transom shower hole with tape and cardboard/ and finally getting to washing the boat.
I'm gonna use a belt sander at home to remove the excess and then cover with some cloth and West S.

Not sure of your comfort zone but most of those faucet shanks are reamed inside to a sufficient diameter to allow 1/2" nominal copper pipe to be sweat in. Doing so would allow all to be mounted normally while giving you options to attach your plumbing.

Nice thought Craig- hadn't thought if that. I'm pretty handy at home with copper and steel tubing.
But just gonna put it on hold and fix next week.

OK, - finally some progress. I ran across the first adapter plate that I had built- it turned out too short but was perfect to drill for my now needed "beneath" plate. I also sped the brain cells up into a slow crawl- and remembered I had a perfectly good Fein multi- tool in the truck ;).

True to form- when it came time to install the fittings- turns out the "seat" at the bottom ID of the straight grey fitting was too deep for the new nylon fitting to seat against. Of course this required Steve to remove about 1/4" from said fittings. Assemble/ open fittings before turning the water back on as a professional plumber would suggest to flush debris/ city water back in/ turn new valves/ check for leaks/ assemb..... Crap. I got a leak. Installed and set in Butyl tape (thanks again Al)

So. After debating with myself between attempting to seal the small leaks between the white and grey nylon fittings, thickened West won the toss. Hopefully it works. Will test in AM. ImageUploadedByTrawler Forum1442814867.048199.jpg

Forgot to update- made my hose connections and tested. All was great. Fit it in place- had some showers today so will have to tape then caulk with my black Life-Calk. Oops got to pull it from the freezer to let it warm up (great idea Marin). ImageUploadedByTrawler Forum1442890109.403042.jpg

K. I'm back on it. Notice the beat up NLA/ ICAIA plastic portals in the back ground. They are on the "List" as well. ImageUploadedByTrawler Forum1442950616.527959.jpg

At Da! Job complete!!
I'm happy with the results mostly- paint job is mostly a "put it on with a mop, spread it with a rake" affair- but I'll take it :).

The black caulk is a bugger- notice some above the shower. I'll have to sand it off after caulk is 100%.

The hardware is properly sealed with Butyl tape, and those corners have snaps for some reason??

And I saw an invoice from Hopkins Carter so my spray head holder must be on the way!

I also caught a few pin fish to use for Bull Redfish bait. I've never caught a bull yet- heck I've eaten bream smaller than my bait!!!ImageUploadedByTrawler Forum1442963366.576803.jpg

Check out this quality!
ImageUploadedByTrawler Forum1443101426.663343.jpg

The holder comes apart, there is a hole in the center of the base. I'm gonna drill/ tap 1/4-20 on the center of the existing base and mount it with a socket head bolt and some blue loctite. This start to makeup for my paint job :).
