Dock side last night and a fellow boat owner was talking about his problem with a new UHF radio .His problem was he could call out but not recieve what it boiled down to was he had 2 small 12v LED lights in his engine room once these were turned off the UHF worked ???

Just posting this as a heads up as I think with all the new 12v LED lights been retrofitted these types of problems may start popping up over time .

HI Gastron was it a UHF radio or a VHF radio?

In Australia we have a UHF Citizen band allocation at 477MHz (80 channels 5w ) as well as the same 27MHz CB 40 AM/SSB channel as the USA have, we also have a 27MHz AM marine CB allocation too, and a almost identical VHF marine ( we use the international settings) sorry I`m a bit of a radio nerd and was just curious if it was a UHF CB he was referring to

Good idea on the "heads up" gastron

LED`s have been known to cause RFI / EMI (Radio Frequency Interference / Electromagnetic Interference), you can use ferrite chokes to help stop unwanted RFI / EMI,
