    • Place only one ad per item (you may repost only when your ad has expired and been removed).
    For Sale ads MUST include:
    • Asking price
    • Location
    • A Basic Description
    • Clear statement whether you are the owner or non-owner (posting for friend, relative, or acquaintance)
    • Don't forget to select: FOR SALE, WANTED or FREE in the Title block.
    All ads should also include ALL the following:
    • Pertinent maintenance and condition information
    • Exterior picture or pictures
    • Interior picture or pictures (boats)
    For maximum impact & exposure, it is suggested the Ad Title include: Year, Manufacturer, Model, Length, Price, and Location or at the very top of the ad body. When your item has sold or the ad is no longer relevant: Please post a Reply to the ad that the item is SOLD or click "Report Post" on post 1 of the thread to ask a moderator to archive the ad. Ads may be moved or removed by our staff at any time for any reason. All ads must comply with site rules. Thanks for your cooperation.

    Hints that you may be dealing with a Scammer:
    • Seller or Buyer approaches you via a direct email or PM and then steers you to an off-site communication method (text or email).

    • Recent forum membership
    • Insists on conducting negotiations via email or text rather than PM
    • Requires payment via Bank Transfer, BitCoin/CryptoCurrency, WesternUnion or other unsecured method.
    • Buyer or Seller suggests Paypal "Friends and Family" payment. Paypal is a good way to arrange payment but an invoice for goods and services should be used rather than "Friends and Family". "Friends and Family" avoids fees BUT there is no recourse if the transaction runs aground. Friends and Family is for gifts only. There is no protection for Friends and Family transactions, so never ever use it to buy something.
    • Declines to allow viewing the item before proceeding with the transaction.

Thats what I was thinking as well.

People have no real clue the n umber of labor hours it takes to do a major refit on a boat.

The only thing (as a guy that has been through a major refit) that makes financial sense about a project boat is if you are trading your labor hours for boat equity.

There are other reasons for a major refit, or taking on a project but they are not financial in nature.

Please elaborate. Not poking argument but I happen to like it. The obvious financial obligations to finish would take this into a hefty package. But that aside. Why do you personally present such distain for it?

Get more money to part it out.
 
There are some project boats that have beautiful lines and I dream of bringing them back to the condition they once were, even though it does not make financial sense.

This one is butt ugly. Finishing it off would not change that.

No argument here. If it's your thing and it makes your heart race call the guy up and put your money down. Someone has obviously spent a butt load of Benjamin's polishing the exterior and it may be as sound as the day it was built but I'll never know because I'll never pursue something that large that needs an entire interior.

In order to do a boat that big any justice whatsoever you'll spend north of $150k finishing it. And even then you'll still have a boat worth $70k on a good day. Boats are NOT investments however some boats are bigger money pits than others. I'll never call another man's boat ugly but I could easily walk away from this boat, get in the car and drive off without ever looking back.

Pictures typically only show the part of the boat that's worth a crap, in this case they tossed in a picture of the engine too. Most likely because it's the only thing inside the damn boat.
 
I particularly like the list of "EXCLUDED" materials. Here, come buy the boat, look at all this great stuff you CAN'T have. --I wonder what they're planning on doing with the "excluded" stuff that doesn't sell with the boat? ...I'm assuming they want to present receipts and "sell" it to the new owner.
 
There has been a crew of 3-5 experienced professional craftsmen working full time on this boat over the last few years getting it ready for you

Yeah, I agree completely. Seems like it would make a really good reality TV show. Begin with guy and wife (and children, and dog) looking at posting, show them adding up their finances, then looking at the boat and getting all excited about doing the loop and the Eastern Caribbean and who knows what all, and then the guy working on it, and his wife working on it, and the dog (smart dog) leaving . . .
