Common sense would suggest that the pressure reducer would be located very near (within a foot or two) of your connection point. It may look like a small bell shaped bronze device. The PRV is used to protect the internal fresh water piping and fixtures from excessive pressure and potential harm so therefore it should be located near the connection point or it would not be protecting as much internal piping.
Be aware that this may re-spark the debate as to whether using the dockside water as normal supply while at dock is a safe practice.
