Nice looking, but I prefer a fully enclosed pilothouse and not spending $50 to $100 an hour for fuel operating a boat. Still, there is a perfect (that is, perfectly compromised) boat for everyone. This could be the "one" for someone else.

Wouldn't the single Yanmar diesel not cost 50 to 100 bucks an hour in fuel ?

At reasonable trawler speeds, that is ?

Not at all, the boat is 33ft LOA so a guess not much over 28 LWL

It should run 5 ot 6 K with the usual frugal fuel consumption.,a guess 2 gph.

At top speed , sure it will probably eat 1 gallon per mile , but that's the usual price of speed.'
 
Like mark said not my kinda boat but someone else's. Cool looking though.

Bay that swim platform is totally out of the question for me.

The railings and inlayed veneer are stunning though.

Verra nice boat.
 
I never understood those boats..if your hanging that big assed platform on at the factory why not just make the boat longer in the first place..unless it is a tax thing based on the builders stated hull lenght.
kind of like a Kardashian...damn good looking except for the fat stern

Think of the normal operating area and intended use of the boat.

The platform is there for med mooring. Probably to eliminate or ease the use of a passerelle.

Four more feet of boat is a lot more expensive than that patio deck.

Been a while , but I think on that boat the swim platform is the cover for HUGE set of trim tabs needed to keep the stern from sinking at higher speeds.

Making it pretty was the goal, not efficiency at speed.
 
These boats have a pretty unique underbody. While a double-ender at the waterline, take a close look below. There is a flat run aft and a hard chine that explains why this is a full planning hull at speed. At low speeds, the hull behaves more like a displacement hull as the water can 'close' back around the stern, theoretically reducing some of the drag that a flat transom would normally generate, making the boat more economical.

An earlier post suggested a single engine. These have twin Yanmar 300's and only 185 gal of fuel. My guess is only a little better than 200NM at cruise.

There is one in our marina. Beautiful boat, very Italian. As with many of their cars, they don't have to be practical, they are eye candy and that is often enough. :D

That stern is only rounded above the waterline. This is a pure planing hull, nothing at all semi about its displacement.

Edit: looks like Larry beat me to the point by about 20 seconds :)
 
Talk about the long reach of Italian designs - anybody notice the toilet paper holder?
 
It's a Miami boat, and the swim platform is for sunning gators. Just call it a gator back porch.
 
But seriously, what kind of numbers would this boat generate as far as GPH at 5 knots, 15 knots 20 knots, and 25 knots? would love to know those figures..

Say each Yanmar burns 2 gallons per hour at normal cruising speed, say around 9 knots.

Thats only around sixteen bucks an hour to cruise this boat on the great loop, am I right?

Not that I have 90 grand to burn, I'll stick with what I got..

I doubt seriously that 9K which is up in the big wake semi plaining area can be done on 4GPH , perhaps 7K if the boat is light enough.

With a fully planeing hull some boats fuel burn per mile actually drops , when on the plane.

Much of the loop in Canada is speed limited to 10KPH , which is about 6 statute miles per hour

I would try to find a boat test , the Brits do excellent testing ., that should have a fuel burn/speed graph.
 
Some European boats go to extremes that wouldn't fly in N America.

But the Bartender has this basic hull w/o the huge swim step.

Look at the Italian boat and see that beautiful curved windshield. Only very high end speed boats like Century would have such a pricy feature here. But perhaps this Italian boat IS a very high end boat ....

Still love those curved windshields. Big time class. No special function .. just style.
 
I guess 9 knots is a bit high for that boat's cruising speed, more like 6 or 7, I guess is realistic.

MY boat is the exact same size and I also have twin screws but I would imagine this one has 380 hp turbo diesels and I have 80 hp each..

I can't afford to own a planing hull cruising boat.
