A good friend of mine showed me a variation of that landing about 15 years ago at the Chula Vista Marina in San Diego. The wind was blowing so hard on the stern that he looped the stern lines (like in the video) which kept us from "pranging" the bow. When it was time to depart, he simply put the engine in reverse and backed out of the slip without ever touching the lines. I have had the occasion to use that process several times over the years.
