I would add a "oh sh!t" handle. Something to hold onto with one hand while steering.

Hey Blue,
Something like this?

Oh sh!t handle, otherwise known as a 'Jesus Bar.'

Perfect mate! Should have known you would have it covered.

Kind of mate. That handle is for something else but just placed it on there to see how it looked. I might get on the pipe bender and custom make a couple of grab bars. Was thinking I will make them the full length of curve of the helm station. Think they will look great running down either side

That would look neat. Try standing at the helm and see where you find comfortable to hold on. In real life, it can be for several hours at a time so needs to feel natural but give plenty leverage.

In that case I better put some next to the bed for flic ... Hahaha

Yes, Yes, Yes! Just make darn sure they can withstand the weight of a Rhino. If you ever get into really bad conditions it might not only be you holding tightly onto one of the bars for dear life...

Yeah I'll make them out of 18mm stainless tube and tig weld some 4mm plate on them as feet then fix them to them helm with 50mm M8 stainless coach bolts.

I'll have to put some thought in for other places to put grab handles throughout the cabin including the toilet and shower

Last external ply piece fitted. Not quite like the Britannia's timber plug but I'm wrapped and I still feel like superman nevertheless. Really stoked

Well done Matt. A milestone indeed!

Ok so swung in for a couple of hours after work today.

I applied a coat of bote cote and started filling the screw holes.

The bote cote epoxy was so hard to mix. It was like mixing cold honey. The cold temps aren't helping me so might have to breakout the heat gun to thin out the epoxy before rolling

Cheers all

Bote cote, honey, and women have similarities... can get hard to stir-up when too cold. Can flow real nicely when warm. Amazing how much things are alike - LOL

I've read this whole thread and despite having only just joined I still believe this build would probably outshine virtually anything here.I just can't get over the efffort you have put into this boat.I did work on the police Halvorsen,"Nemesis",and that cost in excess of 500k to refit, but the Axe blows that into the weeds.Guess that's what you get when you don't lose sight of the goal.Awesome work, mate.

The term "Boat Porn" comes to mind.

Great progress Matt, I see many a cocktails on that aft cockpit in the near future!

Hello mate.
Welcome and Thanks for reading the thread. I must commend you for reading all 88 pages. That's an effort for a newbie, and thank you for your kind words of support. They mean a lot. Do you have any pics of MV NEMESIS? If so, please post them up here. I'd love to see her as would everyone else.
Thanks again
Regards
Hendo

Thanks for the complement mate. Personally Can't wait to crack a few coldies on the aft deck either ... Might happen before launch too lol ..!

Popped in after work and whacked on the bowsprit and glassed the external edges of the cabin as well as the seams. I have marked out for the three 500x500 roof hatches ( faint black lines if you zoom in ). I will cut them out tomorrow. I also fitted the 100x100x6 RHS Galv. Post (the one I made a few months ago) under the bowsprit, inside the anchor locker. This runs all the way down and bolts to the keel as well as being bolted to the bowsprit and cabin roof turning it in to a Samson post but Ive just popped some batten screws in to hold it in place for the moment. The top bollard will bolt to this post under and through the deck making it very sturdy for swinging off thanks to the SARCA EXCEL that Rex so generously gave me. Hope that makes sense

Now I'm astounded.I assumed you would have had a few on the way,but seems not.Once again, congrats.I hope to start on the clipper very soon, and I'm sure I'll be flicking over this build to keep me going. At least I don't have to rebuild the hull, but as for everything else.....

BTW are you intending to eat or burn food aboard,or is it a liquid vessel?

Yeh got a kitchen going in and a BBQ Grill going out the back. Tossing up the idea of putting a gas cooker inside but the refs over here are pretty Full on and I'd rather fry up **** on the BBQ outside while sinking some beers than see Flic inside at a cooker. Will have more bench space that way too. Fridge is on the opposite side next to the lounge/bed.

 Where do I begin? Rest assured my build thread won't come close to the epic you have written, but let's just say I have taken some seriously insane jobs on and this is the next. She went for a swim.Twice in 2 weeks, but now she only gets wet inside when it rains.Phots will be up in a week or so,and will have Nemesis photos in 2 or so,due to wet computer and no backup.Problem is I have an appointment with a mate at 11.59 pm on 31/12/2015 in Lavender bay next to the harbour bridge in Sydney. She'll be right, bloke. That's six months away. All the time in the world.Good things come to those who work, not those who wait. You've already proven that.

Well today this afternoon I finished classing the bowsprit and the fwd cabin seams. I cut the holes for the hatches and cut there hatch plates for the hatches to sit on. I'll fit them off tomorrow. Two reasons for the plates but the main reason is I plan on making the whole cabin top a mattress/foam area to turn it into a sun bed (of sorts). The hatches are 50mm but the foam is 100mm and I want the hatches to sit just below the foam. Not looking like there are three holes with nothing in them so I made the plates which are 20mm which bring the hatches up but not too far so as to cause discomfort when on the beds.

You'll see what I mean come fitment of the cushions.
