Being full time Vagabonds we stay in several Marinas for long periods. After a few months on the St John's River (Beautiful like being on the Amazon South of Palatka) and a lot of old Florida style marinas (They are not nowhere but you can see nowhere nearby) we are at Ortega Landing Marina. Jacksonville FL Marina Slips, Ortega River Condos, Florida Condominiums for sale, Boat Docks, Duval County Real Estate Properties Comparing all the compromises and details this one is the best we have enjoyed. The amenities, the location and the staff are the best of all so far for the price. Every boat and every marina is a compromise and your tastes may be different from ours but this one is a keeper. Near by healthcare and VA services are very good. Uber does a good job with transportation. The outdoor recreation on the river in downtown Jax is outstanding. Check it out on Active capt and Crusiers net. Five star!

We'll second that as OLM being one of the best. We've been in (mostly in) and out of there for the last 2 years. Free ice with also free washer/dyers and the internet, which is included in the rent, is good enough to live stream Netflix. What's not to like?

Good information to share. A touch of sadness for me, though, since I can remember when Ortega was a really good boatyard (as well as a good marina). Waterside development made the land more valuable than the boatyard, I guess.

Good news, bad news. The condo development failed after they built one of the 3 buildings. Fortunately they completed the club house, pool and floating docks just before the last recession. The extra green space has been nice. :)

We will be headed over there within the next couple of months. We are planning to stay in JAX and explore the river. Any "must stops" besides the excellent marina you mention?

Yes, OLM is very nice. For a boatyard, Huckins (they work on boats other than their own) is outstanding. For goofing around the Jax waterfront, tying up at the town seawall is easy, as long as there is not some big event at the stadium or a festival.

We have been there since last October and could not be more pleased with everything there. The staff couldn't be nicer, the facility is outstanding and we think it is the best value in a marina we have seen.

SONAS is over there right now at Lambs Yacht Center - she is probably still on the T-head of A Dock. Wave to her as you pass!
